We arrived at Aroma at noon on a Saturday just as they were setting up the lunch buffet. Everything was hot, fresh and very tasty. The lunch buffet has soup, salads, pappadums, naan and a good variety of both vegetarian and meat dishes. The restaurant filled up quickly after our arrival, but we were not rushed to finish an open... More

We have been walking many times in front of this restaurant but never ventured the stairs. Finally on a very busy Thursday night when all other restaurants we wanted could not find us a table, we decided to try Aroma. The location is great, the stairs to the restaurant, and a second fly to the restrooms less than ideal. The... More

We Could not have asked for a better dine in experience to go with our theatre show! So happy we found this restaurant right across the theatre ...authentic Indian food, amazing service and the ambience is just perfect We had tandoori prawns chicken, mirch tikka , saag aloo , butter chicken peas pulao and Kashmiri naan everything tasted so distinctively... We went to Aroma just before a musical at the Royal Alex. Was a fairly quick lunch but you can certainly hunker in for a long relaxing lunch. Pleasantly surprised with the "fine dining" appearance with table cloths and cloth napkins. A "small" buffet but very much enough food choices and very tasty! Waiters close by always to fill your... My husband and I love Indian food and have tried many Indian restaurants (if not all!) in downtown Toronto. Our favourite by far and the one that we frequent often is Aroma. The food is fresh, non-greasy and oh so delicious. Their menu offers a wide range of flavourful dishes that always remain consistent in their quality and taste. Their... More

Our group arrived for the lunch buffet but unknowingly close to closing time. The restaurant kept the buffet open for us extra time and was still serving hot food when we were finishing. Had a great conversation with the server about the place and even though they were short staffed it didn't seem like it at all. I especially enjoyed... More

Overly rated and overly hyped - mixed reviews from Aroma espresso bar! We were supposed to meet our business associates from UK, So thought of taking them to Aroma Indian, and guess what first of all they were not able to find our reservation, which was an embarrassing moment in front of our business guests and then seated us a... Easily the best butter chicken we've ever had in a restaurant - equal to the best we have had in NYC. (This has been a bit of a quest for us) Started with the mixed appetizer platter - excellent variety in taste and texture. Naan bread was so good! Kind of cool to see the tandoori oven behind the glass... More

Toronto is great because you can easily have a culturally diverse culinary experience. This is an absolutely fantastic choice if you are craving authentic Indian food. Their portions are good, the food is fresh, and the price is right. The decor and atmosphere is warming and appropriate. Overall the dining experience is quite nice. I would recommend all the curries.

There are two entrances, although the address and smaller entrance door are on King st west, the larger entrance is around the corner on John street. When we arrived at 5 pm the place was basically empty however it filled up around 6pm. The food was all very tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and generally helpful. The... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
