I am happy to report that we had a lovely lunch on the side patio and the food was very good. I had not been to the restaurant for a couple of years as the quality had been dropping and then friends in the neighborhood started warning me away. Luckily they have turned things around. They have a new menu and we enjoyed the Grilled Veggie sandwich and the BLT which was a bit light on the T, but made up with the B and two different salads. The service was good and I will be back.

I have eaten here many times over the year because I live very close to High Park.
The food is surprisingly good, though the selection has decreased over time.
And you can't beat the park setting! They have a large outdoor patio for eating outside if the weather is nice. It does get busy on weekends though.

Dropped by High Park to see the cherry blossom extravaganza - on a nice sunny day, its perfect to sit on the patio and watch the world go by. Hot chocolate was good, desserts look delicious.

It's a shame to see the change in the menu, the service and the place itself. I often go with my family on weekends and we routinely have breakfast and then walk in the park. But that pleasant experience of being able to sit down at that restaurant and eat a full breakfast changed completely, it was replaced by bland sandwiches, self-service, horrible coffee and a cold dining room with no cousy ambiance.
If you are looking for the much appreciated weekend breakfast, I advise you to go elsewhere before coming to the park, because you cannot expect much from this restaurant.
It's a real shame it's gotten so bad.

Best way to spend a beautiful fall day...in Toronto’s High Park!
Then, head over to the Grenadier restaurant, located inside the park.
Parking is available
You can eat al fresco or indoors.
We went there for a delicious breakfast. We were not disappointed...everything cooked to perfection! Great breakfast menu! Awesome service too!
PS...you need to show proof of double vaccination and ID for indoor dining.

The Grenadier cafe in High Park is a lovely hidden gem! On a beautiful summer morning, this was the ideal place to have a tasty breakfast on the outdoor patio. Great views of the park, friendly service, good meals at reasonable prices -- we loved it! And the tables were socially-distanced for safety. Lots of free parking too.

I visited the restaurant again after visiting Canada from the UK. Again great food especially the chips which are better then New York fries. Also great service and nothing was too much trouble for them to accommodate our fussy children’s eating habits. I will definitely going next time I’m over.

After exploring High Park, my Friend and I went to the Grenadier Restaurant for lunch. We both ordered the Spanakopita with Greek Salad and it was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, the setting outside lovely. Will definitely go there again when in Toronto.

Haven't been out in a long time for these past two years but it was a beautiful venue to finally connect with some of my (now MATURE...not OLD...) high school friends.
In the spring HIGH PARK is an absolutely astounding location in the centre of a city and THE GRENNY is an historic place which feels like it has been here forever serving some pretty good food in the centre of this urban oasis. Thanks very much to the Grenadier Group for retaining the giant "tree" in the front servery when they took this place over in the mid-80's. It has been the restaurant's tribute to it's location in High Park for over FIFTY years.
Our early group started with some delicious (albeit a tad dry) raspberry and blueberry scones ($3) washed down with copious amounts of excellent bottomless cups of coffee ($2.50).
We decided on both breakfast and lunch selections, The EGGS BENEDICT ($16) were nicely poached and covered in creamy Hollandaise sauce. The GREEK SALAD ($15) seemed a bit pricey for salad but it was an original Greek style.
The GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH ($17.50) was tender and complemented by a fresh focaccia bun. The CHEESE and BACON BURGER ($16.50) started out well but then I realized the star of the show was the thick and delicious bacon strips. The burger patty really was just a somewhat tasteless pre-formed thing and not made in-house which I had expected.
No beer, wine or booze thanks to John Howard who deeded his property to the City of Toronto in 1873 on the condition that alcohol would NEVER be sold in the parkland !!! On the positive side, that makes your restaurant tab considerably more reasonable.

It is a nice spot, but it is basically a greasy spoon and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids should not be over $100 once you tip. Good food, but nowhere near with the price.

Prices can't be beat. Food is good, not great. The patio setting is amazing since you are in the park. Service is good.

This restaurant is right in High Park and not only great for a quick hot chocolate in the winter, or ice cream on the patio in the summer, but excellent for meals, too. I order the sole, which comes with rice and steamed vegetables. They serve classic big breakfasts too. Wait staff are friendly and experienced with a diner kind of manner. The restaurant also is easy on most budgets.

Sadly, the Grenadier is not what it used to be. There is a breakfast special each weekday until 11am. The breakfasts are consistently very greasy. Toast is basically warm bread. It also does seem right that you are charged an additional $2.50 in addition to the cost of the breakfast just for a coffee (and there are no refills). If weather is permitting it is great to sit on the patio but the wasps/hornets are a real problem.

Nothing to write home about. Coffee is expensive compared to other places. Food is passable. Service is poor.
