Established in 1972, Pomegranate Chinese Cuisine is a well-known Canadian-Chinese eatery in the Windsor and Tecumseh area. It has built up a good reputation for quality food and personal service over many decades. A wide choice of specialty and vegetarian dishes, together with set menus are available. Good Local Chinese Restaurant

This is a family run restaurant that we enjoyed visiting for a larger family gathering in November. The staff accomodated our reservation for 11 people on a Saturday night. We all shared a variety of different dishes. There really is something for everyone. Good food, good service, good value and an inviting, clean atmosphere.

I've been order from the Pomegranate about once a month on average for over 30 years. Never ONCE have we had a bad meal. The service is exemplary and the quality is consistently top notch. Give yourself a treat and give them a visit.

Awesome Chinese food, full size servings !!

Not in the downtown core, but lots of parking. The take out business is non stop, could not but notice the constant arrivals for that. Inside it is dated, but bright and clean. Fast service, and a ton of selection. We shared 6 plates, and everything was delicious. Large egg rolls, and the egg fou young is top notch ! Good prices, great tasting food.

Absolute Worst Chinese Food I've ever had.

We couldn't even eat it, tossed $70.00 worth of food into the garbage. Overcooked, mushy, chicken so hard you couldn't chew it, Egg rolls were spring rolls, Fire cracker shrimp disgusting. I will never order from this place again.

Threw Half Of It Away

We were looking forward to it as a break - take out. The $6.50 wonton soup tasted like lemons and the dumplings were all dough. The beef and broccoli tasted not bad but looked like brown mash. The beef fried rice had almost no beef and tasted burnt so couldn’t finish it or the soup. Expensive too!

Poor quality food. Not interesting, greasy. Overly covered in cornstarch sauce vegetables over cooked. Battered food heavy with very little meat. Spring rolls tasted like fried in rancid fat.

The cook does not love his job

We took simple take out chicken an broccoli with fride rice. When we open the packaging at home it looked like brown mash, terrible presentation. No cook should have ever let anything looking like this out of his kitchen! It was really salty, broccoli was indisngwishible. Sad looking and bad tasting meal. I see some good reviewed and I am baffled. Good luck if you ordering there😕

This was a take-out order on a Sunday. We used to frequent The Pomegranate Restaurant, but the food got really awful so we quit going for a couple of years. Decided to try it again this month on a Sunday and orderd take-out. The delivery was quick and on time, staff was great on the phone. Food--not so good. The eggrolls were extremely salty and old looking, the other dishes were just tasteless. They all blended together. Sorry Pomegranate, don't know whether you have a new chef or different policies, but your food just doesn't cut it anymore.

Worse Than Mall Food Court Chinese

This place used to be the best in town, now it's the worst. I heard it is under new ownership, which could explain the drastic decline. It's super greasy, overcooked and I'm pretty sure their oil is rancid. The current food quality ranks below what you get at a mall food court. If you're considering ordering here, do yourself favour and go eat out of a dumpster somewhere, you'll get a better meal.

If you like vinegar gravy

First time - travelled half hour for this only to throw right in garbage. Ordered two hot sour soups; shanghai noodles with shrimp and pork; spicy green beans. What did I really get? A car full of spilled gravy because lids were not on properly. Lets start with soup - dark gravy with a bottle of vinegar. Noodles - over cooked noodles soaked in gravy with 3 baby cardboard shrimp - dont recall seeing any pork. Now the beans….these were frozen Green giant style beans in yes, you guessed, gravy. It was hands down the worst Chinese food ever. This restaurant is an insult. My cats wouldnt even touch this. Thirty six dollars plus the gas and time it took to only throw this out. The only thing edible were the fortune cookies - I believe one of them warned me to stay away from this rip off place.

Very disappointed!

My husband and I ordered chicken soo gai, shrimp with mixed vegetables, hot and sour soup and wonton soup for pick up this evening. The soups and egg rolls were good. My husband said the shrimp was just “ok”. The chicken soo gui was hard and the gravy for it was bland.....really pretty bad. Most of it ended up going down the garbage disposal. I would rate it as the worst I have ever had anywhere! With so many restaurants to choose from in Windsor I do not plan to order from here again.

I very rarely go to the Pomegranate Restaurant to eat in, however I did and the service was great. Kept coming back to refill water, food was fast for such a busy afternoon and the accommodated our likes all while still staying in our price range. Definitely one to go back. I had the barbecue chicken with fried rice. Would recommend more of a 'combo' like meal as you get more for less $$. Always recommend the veggie spring rolls and egg rolls, however.

If this is the best Chinese food in Windsor how bad can the others be?

We chose this restaurant based on ratings and that it was open on Sundays What a disappointment it was! Food was so bad we left most on our plates and never gave it a thought about taking any home. Lemon chicken so tough you could not cut it with your knife and overpowered with lemon sauce. Not editable! General Tau chicken was nothing more than nothing more than chucks of chicken fried then drowned in Hot wing sauce. We frequent several Chinese Restaurants in the Detroit area and have never had a meal as bad as this one. Not Authentic, Not Good! We made note that not one Asian person was dining there. Gave this a three rating only because service we good.
