Relaxed environment with delicious offerings. This is a great place for dinner alone or in a group. The dishes have delightfully complimentary flavours and locally sourced ingredients. The “Claddagh Surf and Turf” is a must. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, and the scallops were generous and fresh. Tasty selection of oysters, lobster risotto was divine. And of course, the sticky date pudding is the only way to end the meal! The restaurant staff were attentive, the environment relaxed, and the food delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

Had oysters, lobster risotto and the pork belly. Oysters were fresh, clean and perfect. Lobster risotto tasted great even for the small amount of lobster inside. The pork belly, to die for. The chutney that accompanied the pork belly was truly a gastronomical delight. So why not 5 stars? There is a shortage of white wine in the area, not the fault of the restaurant. The waiter said they were out of one kind of wine, and I asked for another at about 55$. He came back and said, oh sorry, we have it but it isn't cold yet, and proceeded to recommend two others double the price that specified citrus after we told him we didn't want citrusy wine... wanted to increase the bill for a larger tip is what I felt was the game plan and that was just tasteless in my opinion. The restaurant is excellent and small in size and will continue to fill up, deservedly so, in spite of poor judgement from a waiter.

We discovered this restaurant 6 years ago on our honeymoon and loved it. We went back on Sunday evening at 5pm without reservations and were not nicely informed by a female staff member that they were full. Understandable, however when we looked online a few minutes later, there were several reservations available. That was disappointing that staff were not helpful and did not mention to check online. However we made reservations for the next day and fortunately our server Nick made up for the previous service. Food was good, great oysters and pasta. The young gentleman who shucked our oysters and everyone else’s (popular item ) worked hard with a smile. Thank goodness we were not served by the woman from the day before. Nick made up for it.

My wife, adult son and myself arranged an anniversary meal here last night. Two of us had the full rack of lam (need to preorder at this time of year) and I can say that without a doubt it was the best tasting and most visualy appealing dish of lamb that I have had in years. Starters of oysters and seafood chowder were also excellent as was the sticky date dessert. Overall a wonderful meal-will be back. Was also nice to see one of the owners present , actively interacting with customers, and ensuring that all was in order.

Having read great reviews about the wonderful food experience at Claddagh Oyster House, which is an old Irish Pub, on the 11th of August around 5.30 pm, being our first day at Charlottetown PEI, and as it was early in the evening, we went to this restaurant without making a reservation. We were greeted by a rude waiter (a short guy) who informed us that the restaurant was fully reserved for that evening. We requested a reservation for the following day, which he denied in a discourteous manner although he noted down our contact number, and was bent on shooing us out. The Supervisor/Restaurant Manager, a Lady in a black dress who passed us, ignored and did not make any effort to intervene and accommodate us. We were appalled by the way we were treated by the staff of this highly recommended restaurant in Charlotte Town. We have been to 83 countries on holidays and dined at prestigious restaurants, including several Michelin star restaurants, but never did we encounter such appalling hospitality. There is a way to turn down a request politely especially when you are in the hospitality industry mostly dependent on tourism.

We've been friends of this restaurant and the Old Dublin Pub upstairs since opening some 30 years ago. Food is always a top priority. Booked dinner for four from their WinterDine menu and picked it up to take to our friends' apartment. Expected longer wait but just 2 minutes and our two boxes with four very excellent seafood chowders, four complex entrees each consisting of three proteins: salmon, scallops and porkbelly (all done just right - tough to do with scallops for sure and also holding salmon from drying out) whipped potatoes then vegetables a point: broccoli spear, parsnip, roast beet, and carrots. Then the bread pudding. That we did need to re-warm following eating that lovely dinner but a minute or two to steam the puddings and warm the sauce and we were back to a top-quality restaurant meal. The new owners haven't skipped a beat since taking over from the founder. Looking forward to more opportunities in their seats and ambiance or a take home with our feet up. Either way, it is great food and no pots and pans to wash!

3 adults, 2 beverages, 3 meals, $178 and food was served cool (not warm and definitely not hot)! Lobster roll tasted fishy and ate 1 bite, strip loin was tuff with zero flavour. Chicken had great flavour but had so much skin that parts of the chicken was undercooked and other sections were very tough to chew. Would not recommend for price vs quality. Waitress was lovely and place was very quiet for prime supper hour which was nice. The atmosphere was fantastic!!

We picked this restaurant for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. Luckily we made reservations as they were turning people away when we arrived for 6PM on a Monday night in June. The food was fantastic. Surf and turf (pork belly and scallops) was excellent, everything cooked to perfection. The scallops melted in your mouth. The evening special (Haddock in a Lobster sauce) was also cooked to perfection. The service was top notch.

Claddagh Oyster House was my first dinner stop in Charlottetown PEI and I was not disappointed. First, reservation is a MUST especially on weekends and during Covid. Guests without reservations were turned away because of capacity limits. Since I made a reservation weeks ago, I was seated immediately by a friendly server. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks in the restaurant. I ended up ordering half of dozen of the local oysters to try out and the halibut as my main, which was delicious. The fish was nicely seasoned with a crispy crust but the fish remained moist. The cheddar biscuit served between the starter and entree was delicious too. For my first night here at Charlottetown, Claddagh Oyster House definitely gives me a great impression of the city's food scene. I highly recommend the restaurant and remember to make your reservation in advance.

Seeing the issues with getting a reservation, I booked one on line for the 4 of us. Since we had a 6:00 reservation, the restaurant was not full. Our server was very aloof in the beginning of service but got much better after we ordered. The oysters Rockefeller were great. The surf and turf was ordered by 3 of us. It was awesome. Desserts were off the charts. We had eaten at a few other restaurants during our stay and this was by far the best. Claddagh oyster house is a definite do over on my next trip.

My wife and I ate here after having a private wedding ceremony in lieu of our actual one due to covid restrictions. They gave us some drinks on the house. We ordered some oysters which were great! I ordered the sriploin steak and mashed, my wife ordered the lobster risotto and we shared some tempura shrimp. All were amazing! For dessert, I got the blueberry bread pudding and my wife got the sticky date pudding. GET THE PUDDING!!! I'm telling you, it was the best dessert either of us have ever had. Overall, our experience was great. Our server was very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. I would suggest going!

The food was fine but the service was terrible and rude. Our waitress was a middle-aged blond woman. It took a while for her to come to our table. When she came she explained the specials of the day and even though we were ready to order drinks she immediately turned around and walked away. One of our orders was oysters. She was in such a hurry to name different kinds of oysters and we were not able to catch the names nor the characteristics of them. Every time our food arrived, she just dumped the plates and didn’t make any effort to explain what they are. She only came once to check on us during the meal. We tried to order glasses of Sancere, which they didn’t have. Instead of letting us know ahead of time they don’t have it ir apologizing and suggesting something else, all she said was, “We don’t have it.” We have so far have enjoying our time and having great experience with hotel and restaurant people in PEI and Nova Scotia, but this is probably the worst experience in this trip. We did not complain nor made a comment to her or to the manager because we didn’t want to be confrontational, but this server needs to improve her attitude and service skills. We had much better service at more casual restaurants.

Previous reviews are a bit misleading, the place has enough space , I would say atleast 15 tables of 4 seats each table. We ordered fish dishes and the waiter was happy to switch some of the side dishes for us. Very polite, attentive and cheerful waiter and service was quick. Parking is a bit of challenging so arrive 5 minutes ahead to figure out parking. Parking spots are plenty but so are visitors as its a busy street with all the nice restaurants on it

With so many choices in this city we reviewed our options and tried this restaurant. Our starters of oysters on the half shell were good and the same for the oysters Rockefeller. Crab / lobsters cakes were very nice but the lobster risotto was undercooked and the rice not done. Often the true caliber of a restaurant is how they manage these circumstances and that is the disappointment. Bill not adjusted not was there an apology. Will NOT return
