And this place provided it, the service, the wine and the ambiance. I’m a very loyal TA reader/follower/contributor and I read more about the neg than poss only to see where those folks are coming from. Well I my opinion and again just mine, this...place lives up to the positives. Service likely the best we’ve had in ages. Never looked for our waiter, never was our water glass allowed to show a low level, and he explained everything we asked him in detail and with patience Thank you Richard. I opted for the 14 oz Rib eye with the smoked Gouda topping. Great taste pairing! The roasted potatoes, and roasted broccoli and heirloom carrots rounded out a plate of food, too much for me to finish. Well all the steak was gone at least!..lol My steak was requested medium rare and was spot on. Now for the ribeye itself vs dollar value. Just the right amount of marbling to flavour my steak and yet not to waste money on ounces of fat. Well done Sims!…excellent rating from me. Side Note..my wife had the blackened Atlantic salmon..it too was cooked to perfection…More

We had an incredible meal here - fresh oysters, 1/2 wedge salad; hand selected and prepared by Jade, a true professional; the Delmonico steak and the 14 oz ribeye, both with garlic mashed. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. Kudos to our server, Alex, who struck...a perfect balance between personal care and only appearing when needed. He was extremely helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. Ask for him if you go. All in all, a wonderful meal and evening.More

We visited back in 2020 (the pandemics first summer). Service was great. Our server was well trained and attentive. The food was outstanding! We had the filet with Gouda crust with garlic mashed potatoes. You could tell that the beef was quality and cooked exactly...as requested. As everyone says, a bit pricy but with the cost of everything you have to learn to expect. Thank you , JohnMore

By far one of the best meals we had on the island, although it’s off season so not much is open, but the food was exceptional, the staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was nice and eclectic. The steak was done perfectly and...the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious and creamy. Highly recommend this restaurant for a nice nice out.More

Interesting, wonderful food! We had bacon wrapped tenderloins stuffed with blue cheese. Wonderful. The local stout, Gahan was great. And although everyone in town has sticky date pudding, this was the best! Instead of plain vanilla ice cream, Cows makes a special ice cream for...them just for this dessert! We sat at the bar and watched Jade as she took orders, served drinks, and even shucked oysters! Dinner and a show!More

We dined Saturday night, Aug. 14, 2021. There were two groups of us and they put us at one table of 10. The service was appalling. We ordered drinks which took 45 minutes. We ordered food which took 1.5 hours to reach our table. The...staff did not care at all - however, they made sure the patios were getting served. The food was mediocre. We order the chateaubriand at $125 which was a disappointment given the price - four slices of tenderloin! Again, staff did not give a care. Major disappointment.More

We were really looking forward to a nice steak dinner and were excited about our first visit to Sims. It is located in a lovely historic building in downtown Charlottetown. Sadly it may be our last. We were seated in our booth quickly when we...arrived and our wait staff were very friendly. The waitress was quick to accommodate my wife who has a glutton intolerance and provided glutton free bread while I was started with some excellent tea biscuits. Unfortunately the wine we ordered turned out to be not in inventory, after some searching, so back to the wine list. We did end up with a very nice Brunello as a second choice however that ended up being the best part of the evening. We decided to share a Caesar salad to start - I have never been served such a limp bit of lettuce, ever. Moving on we ordered the Cow Boy Steak for Two (30 oz bone-in rib eye steak). I chose the steak frites as my potato and my wife had the roasted potatoes. The steak frites arrived in a huge mound covering half my plate and were limp and not very warm. No hint of crispness at all. None. The steak seemed to be cooked medium rare, as ordered, however what a workout the jaw received in trying to consume it. Huge disappointment would be an understatement. A significant amount went back without comment from the waitress. The writeup in the menu about the care and aging of the meats at the restaurant failed to come through in the final product we were presented with. No inclination to return on our part.More

We were disappointed with our overall experience. For starters, it took over 30 minutes from the time we were seated to have our wine. In fact, the complimentary rolls came out well ahead of getting our wine. We ordered oysters and main courses. The oysters...were a little gritty. The server almost came to the table with our main course while we were still eating the oysters. As soon as they took the appetizer plates, the main course came. The timing for everything was not good. Expected the overall experience to be much better for this caliber of a restaurant.More

I love the atmosphere at Sims and our service was outstanding. There were six different oyster options and the three that we tasted were great. The caesar salad was also very good. The wine list is better than most. Sadly, our mains were awful. The...ribeyes were overcooked (we asked for medium rare) and covered with a thick coating of salty steak spice. The amount of salt made them all but inedible. The double baked potatoes were dry and lukewarm and yet burned on top. Even the plating was unappetizing - the steak was served on top of the parsnips and broccoli. This is normally an excellent restaurant. Maybe the chef had the night off? Very disappointed this time.More
