Took in super here. It is on the Richmond "Street" Historic lane and i could see that with the patio layout, it would be a popular spot in good weather and when adjacent shows let out. (this lane and most of downtown is very dark...at night for walking around) The spouse loved her brisket and I liked the fish and chips, except for the batter was more like a wing batter, and the fries were pretty run of the mill. Fruit flies were annoying the night that we were there.More

After shopping at the nearby stores we stopped for a martini and some whiskey. Great outdoor spot for people watching even in October. Wait staff and bartenders very friendly and added to an enjoyable rest.

We called into John Brown's Grill for a meal and some drinks. There was a good range of beers on tap and the food we had was excellent. The staff were most helpful and attentive, no complaints from us.

On Richmond St. Victoria row is a pedestrian avenue that offers good food and music. John Brown’s is opposite the TD always on stage music presentation. The food and drinks were great. In a cafe setting on an open avenue who could ask for more....Service was good and the staff were friendly. Music entertained us day and night. What a find.More

We have come here for years and the service has been slipping the last couple visits. The last visit was at the start of August 2022 and the service was the worst ever. And they mixed our food order up. And we couldn't get water...delivered to our table. We emailed management about our experience and they didn't even respond. I can no longer recommend this restaurant.More

We recently enjoyed a delicious meal here and it was wonderful! Excellent service, incredible food and a short wait, but we’ll worth it. A local group confirmed we were at the best restaurant in town while waited and we agree!

Terrible service, we were here 3 years ago and had a great time, this time though, we arrived and chose to seat at the patio, started raining and asked to be moved inside and it’s like they didn’t even care and did not try at...all To bring us inside, we’re more worried about bringing more people in. we stood up payed for the drinks we had ordered and went on to a different place, such disappointment as I was looking forward to coming back to this place.More

Had an early lunch on a hot summer's day on their patio, with live entertainment across the street. Excellent way in which the several beers on tap are listed for you by the staff at your table, meaning you don't have to search a list...on some far away board. We had a Haddock Sandwich and Grille Burger with Caesar Salad. The salads were huge and the mains were great. The Burger was done just right as was the Haddock. Will definitely return when back on the Island.More

Had lunch here. Friendly staff. Tried the seafood chowder and lobster roll. Seafood chowder was quite salty for my taste and over powered my tastebuds that I couldn’t really taste the lobster roll.

We arrived there after we watched the musical at the Confederation center. After 10pm, the kitchen is closed and they served a limited limit of food, but they are meals by themselves. The good: l had their maple poutine (or whatever they called it). It...was VERY good. I strongly suggest it. Waitress was nice. The bad: There was a menu at the window outside for view which made us think the kitchen was opened bug it was not. Chicken on the 10pm menu is very spicy but this is not indicated on the menu. Place can be very loud. I give this place a 4 out of five because the poutine was truly delicious.More

I really enjoy this location. The atmosphere on the summer weekend is really lively and energetic. The food and drinks are good enough for what you pay for. The staff are super fun and friendly.

Basically there was almost nothing under $17 (which is acceptable if the food is worth it) but we waited a LONG time to get our food. Then when it came, The food was absolutely nothing exceptional and the beet and goat cheese salad didn’t even...have any beets or goats cheese. The waiter took $2 off our bill to compensate.More

I ordered for take out "5oz local tenderloin steak, grilled and topped with sautéed portobello mushrooms and Spanish onions, served on a grilled crostini and topped with a demi sauce" medium rare. I have celiac disease so am careful where I eat. Pros I didn't...get sick, and tenderloin is always great. Cons steak was super rare, crostini was half a slice of gluten free bread (super small) and why half a slice??? Maybe 4 small pieces of mushroom and very little onion, definitely not portobello mushrooms. No sauce even though it was stated when ordering they could do a GF sauce. Overall definitely not worth the money. Very disappointing, had been their prior to COVID and loved it...but its not the same.More

Supper was fantastic. It was a busy evening but we still were in and out in about an hour. I had the seafood tacos (tip: get the fish poached, not fried), with a side of 1/2 sweet potato fries / 1/2 house salad. Everyone was...super friendly, great meal and overall experience.More

Looked like a popular row of restaurants so we grabbed a seat on the patio. Each of us ordered and it didn’t take long before the food arrived. We enjoyed the beet salad, seafood tacos and the Montreal smoked meet sandwich. All tasted fresh and...left us wanting more. Thanks to our wait staff for keeping our glasses full and our dogs watered.More

Reservations are not taken for the patio or indoors. I have dined many times at John Brown's and had no problem in getting seated. I suggest that you allow enough time to dine in order to get to the show on time. Service... More
