Dropped in while touring Charlottetown – we got right in and sat at the perfect table, it was inside but with the windows/doors open, it felt like you were outside but temp was it was much cooler.
Service was quite spotty – it took a long time to get water and drink orders but eventually someone showed up. It didn’t even seem that busy, there were plenty of staff hovering around the back bar.
I ordered the BBQ Burger with a Caesar salad– wife ordered the salmon and easy kid order a cheese burger with fries and difficult kid order the nachos. BBQ Burger was delicious, and the cesar salad was exceptionally delicious, I wasn’t expecting that different taste, next time I would order the big salad as a meal. BBQ Burger, no complaints, it was tasty – easy kid gave the burger a 9.7 and picky kid gave the nachos a 6.7 because there wasn’t enough cheese, yet she did eat the whole plate. Wife said the salmon was cooked to perfection but there were no herbs – there didn’t seem to be a lot of vegetables. There was rhubarb as a vegetable along with small chunks of carrot. The rice was crunchy but it was good.
Caesar was tasty and would get again!
Seems like a great spot – according to other reviews, might have been an off day with service but it does seem to happen randomly.

We decided to eat at the John Brown Grille as it was well placed and, on a warm autumn day, we were able to sit outside. It was quite busy which is always a good sign. We were not disappointed.
We were not pressured to order which gave us time to consider the beers listed on a blackboard. We chose the Upstreet Third Place IPA and the Moth Lane Moth Lite, both very quaffable. My wife adores lobster rolls and that is what she chose. She said that the bread was exceptionally good and the lobster plentiful. My fish was a good sized helping with the accompanying chips as they should be.
As we did not order a side with the roll, $2 was taken off our check.
We lingered somewhat over the meal but the unrushed service helped us enjoy our day in Charlottetown.

We were recommended to eat here by the Fairholm Historic properties, they were right!
There was a good choice of beers and ciders, and a wonderful choice of food. Almost everything could be adapted to be gluten free and our server, Emily E, talked my wife through the menu and gave recommendations. The bacon wrapped scallops were great and my wife really loved the GF fish & chips, the Chowder was really filling.
The next night we wanted a GF dessert and they were happy to serve us just that - Thanks!
There is great live music outside every evening which really made the night.
Highly recommend this wonderful place.

On vacation, our first night in Charlottetown. This restaurant is on what looks like a restaurant row. There were a decent amount of diners both inside and outside so we decided to give it a try. Ordered the calamari which were skinny rubber bands. Not good. I had the rose pasta and had shrimp added to the dish. The pasta was all stuck together and the shrimp would struggle to be categorized as medium sized. The pasta was $19.00 and for the additional six shrimp was charged $10.50! I asked for some Parmesan cheese to try to up the flavor. That was an additional $2.00!!!!! So, for $31.50 I had a very mediocre dish. My husband said his haddock was just ok. All in all, will never be visiting this place again. Our server was very nice.

This place is a night club trying to be a restaurant. I got the vegetable soup that was bland as anything.mIt had more pasta in it than vegetables. The rice that came with my small piece of halibut was stone cold. My wife’s scallops were way over cooked to the point of being dry. We spoke to the waitress who then brought the manager over. He was very apologetic and comped half my meal and did not charge for the soup. We did not want to carry on so we did not bring up the scallops. It was a special occasion for us and we were extremely let down. Being charged more than a fair price one expects the food properly prepared. Sorry for being critical but I’m being honest.

Our flight arrived later on a Thursday evening and we were looking for someplace to grab a snack and a drink. We wandered over to Victoria Row and found John Brown's. This place was packed at 10 pm and we were lucky to be able to order some food before their kitchen closed. We had the bacon wrapped scallops and some humus and chips. Both were excellent but the scallops, wow, amazing sitting on maple syrup. Enjoyed this and our beer/wine on their patio.

Outside during the lovely cool sea breeze we sat in the patio for lunch. My wife ate excellent crispy haddock and fries and I ate the delicious smoked beef panini sandwich along with a yummy dill pickle. The waitress came forth and back to pour water into our glasses effortlessly. What a relaxing lunch on Sunday!

Basically there was almost nothing under $17 (which is acceptable if the food is worth it) but we waited a LONG time to get our food. Then when it came, The food was absolutely nothing exceptional and the beet and goat cheese salad didn’t even have any beets or goats cheese. The waiter took $2 off our bill to compensate.

Had lunch here.
Friendly staff.
Tried the seafood chowder and lobster roll. Seafood chowder was quite salty for my taste and over powered my tastebuds that I couldn’t really taste the lobster roll.

We arrived there after we watched the musical at the Confederation center. After 10pm, the kitchen is closed and they served a limited limit of food, but they are meals by themselves.
The good: l had their maple poutine (or whatever they called it). It was VERY good. I strongly suggest it. Waitress was nice.
The bad: There was a menu at the window outside for view which made us think the kitchen was opened bug it was not. Chicken on the 10pm menu is very spicy but this is not indicated on the menu. Place can be very loud.
I give this place a 4 out of five because the poutine was truly delicious.

I ordered for take out "5oz local tenderloin steak, grilled and topped with sautéed portobello mushrooms and Spanish onions, served on a grilled crostini and topped with a demi sauce" medium rare. I have celiac disease so am careful where I eat. Pros I didn't get sick, and tenderloin is always great. Cons steak was super rare, crostini was half a slice of gluten free bread (super small) and why half a slice??? Maybe 4 small pieces of mushroom and very little onion, definitely not portobello mushrooms. No sauce even though it was stated when ordering they could do a GF sauce.
Overall definitely not worth the money. Very disappointing, had been their prior to COVID and loved it...but its not the same.

Just had the best birthday dinner at John Browns, food was good but the service was even better. I’ll be sure to be back just for our server Emily, she was friendly and professional and made sure every part of our meal went well, even with a party of 12 there was no problems in anyones meals. Thanks again to John Browns and Emily for the amazing meal and service.

Thought this would be a tired old bar. It has a cool modern flair with a great menu and excellent craft beer selections. If you get the mussells I recommend you share a pound is Alot of mussels. The chicken flatbread was also very good (though the chicken chunks were a little big and tough to get down. VERY friendly and attentive waitstaff. Highly recommend!

It was busy on a the patio and Madison was buzzing. Provided good service which I reflected in my tip. Not so sure about the food - I had the Lemon Haddock Salad. The haddock was overcooked, somewhat rubbery and the salad looked like it was slapped together as an afterthought. Arrived after several minutes. To be fair, it tasted good, just did not look so appetizing.

Food Expeditor failure. Six for dinner and drinks. Three ordered the Fish & Chips. Basic local fare menu item as stated on the menu consisting of fish, fries, coleslaw, and dilled tartar sauce. Couldn't believe that the kitchen sent out ALL THREE plates with, quite literally, less than one tablespoon of coleslaw per plate. Simultaneously funny and pitiful. If you're short on cabbage... for the love of all things holy, leave it off the plate and/or sub-out another option. Gheesh.
