Papa Joe's is a family owned restaurant that has been around for a lot of years. I know they have a following of regulars that dine here. Probably because the food is good, the service is great and they have a warm and comforting atmosphere. It is hard to explain but I feel at home when I come to this restaurant. I have always been pleased with my meal and the main coarse prices are reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for all occasions that you choose to dine out for. If I was to critique anything it would be the pricing of their desserts. Dont get me wrong, the desserts here are very good but they charge between $8-10. For a piece of anything. No matter how good a sweet treat is, pricing needs to be based on what the product is, how it is presented and you base it proportionally on the prices of your main courses and the class that your restaurant is in. Factoring in all these reasons, their desserts are too expensive. All in all Papa Joe's offers you a nice time out.

Great, just great

Papa Joe's is an island landmark restaurant. They have been around for a long time and I believe they will still be around for years to come. They offer a mix of Canadian, maritime and Lebanese fare that will surely suit everyone in your party. The restaurant itself is clean and is always kept new looking. They never let the interior look dated. The service is very prompt and the food is excellent. Even during the current "panic demic" they make you feel at home and not like you are carrying the plague. I have found that some restaurants and businesses are treating their clients and customers in such a way that you feel like a specimen that is highly infectious. Not cool with me. These type of places to not get my hard earned dollars. Papa Joe's do not treat their customers like this and for that they get my full approval.

Excellent Service and Delicious Food

We were looking for a place to eat at Prince Edward Island and we checked Trip Advisor and decided to try it after taking a peek at the menu. Our server Darleen was so nice, food was beautifully presented, we had the Blackened Salmon and the Ají Tuna, we liked it so much that we decided to go again the next day and I tried the rib eye it was nicely seasoned and just perfectly cooked to my taste, my husband had the salmon again. When I left I forgot my cell on the table, and Darleen went out of the restaurant to hand it to me. Definitely if you want to have a nice dinner, eat at Papa Joe’ s.

Populat eatins spot in Charlottetown

Sunday night so I knew it would be busy. Couldn't get in at 630pm but came back an hour later and found a seat. The place was hopping! This is a popular family restaurant - good menu, fair prices and generous portions. They had a roast turkey dinner ($20) this evening which was tasty and quickly served. The folks running this place sure know what they are doing. A nice change from fast food places or high end expensive venues.

Great food, even better service

This is not my first time at Papa Joe’s however to food and the service is so consistent, I wanted to make sure I gave a shout out. I have tried several dishes and without exception the food was delicious and prepared perfectly. This particular visit I had the rib eye steak and it melted in my mouth. I wish I had gotten our server’s name…he was fantastic. I’m not sure if he was an owner but he was the perfect blend of friendly and welcoming, attentiveness and efficiency. Really made our visit memorable. We were there Friday Sept 17 around 6 in the bar area so to the owners, you have a great employee in this young man.

Surprisingly flavourful and delicious

We had spent the day at the waterfront and I had wanted to eat downtown again, but my husband was anxious to leave, so we decided to find somewhere to eat on our way back to our Airbnb. We happened upon this place … and I’m so glad we did. We had the seafood chowder (so much deep flavour), fish and chips (light and breaded in cornmeal), pasta bolognese (with creamy dollops of ricotta and two generous pieces of garlic toast), followed by their house-made baklava cheesecake … which was an unexpected and divine way to end our meal. Our server was amazing but one thing to note, the owner (or maybe the manager) walked around and talked to all the locals, but seemed to snub the tourists. It wasn’t very welcoming in that respect, but our server and the other staff were friendly so that made up for the somewhat obvious disregard for visitors. Other than that, we were pleasantly surprised to find this place … it was one of the best meals we had while visiting Charlottetown.

Incredible food but also incredible desserts! Their dessert menu caters to all sweet tooth’s and the prices are reasonable for the quality dessert you’re getting. I enjoy going here simply for a nice dessert and coffee sometimes, though the food is always superb as well. This time I got the chocolate brownie dessert and it didn’t disappoint

We dropped in on a busy Tuesday evening about a week after hurricane Fiona hit P.E.I hard, and Papa Joes was open and happy to serve. Attentive service, very good lobster roll and bouillabaisse with tomato sauce that had good punch to it and lots of seafood and potatoes. A fine experience overall.

I continue to return to this restaurant for my favorites every time I am on the island. The staff are lovely, service is speedy, they accomodate Gluten Free very well (I have celiac but they accomodate it very well, never any issues) and the food is AMAZING! Favorites so far include: Seafood Chowder (super flavorful and so much seafood in this, it fills you right up!), Mussels (always yummy and fresh), the Blackened Salmon (15/10- I crave the potatoes now all the time.. so good; the salmon is always perfectly cooked and the plate is always very well presented-even if it's takeout!). I will be back many more times in the future but highly recommend for anyone who wants a tasty, hearty meal. In particular, anyone with Celiacs or gluten sensitivity. Come check it out, you won't regret it!

When we arrived at the restaurant, we almost decided to eat elsewhere because of the nondescript exterior, however we had read the positive reviews and we were tired of seafood! The interior of the restaurant was modern and clean. The service was prompt and friendly. Our meals were fantastic. My steak was cooked perfectly. The linguini with chicken was delicious and more than my 15 year old pasta-lover could finish in one sitting. We were very impressed. Would definitely return for another meal!!

Could easily have been 4 stars but for the fish & chips

For a sunny Tuesday the place was packed - glad we made reservations! Poke bowl, salad and chicken meals were very good. Service was a little slow, but they were busy, so that's forgivable. What is not forgivable is the use of two previously frozen rectangles of fish on a plate of fish and chips! C'mon Papa Joe, is that really the standard you aspire to? So disappointing.

We ordered chowder, fish and chips, and nachos. The chowder was fantastic. Reasonable portion for $16. The fish and chips were solid. Lightly battered and tasty for $20. Good fries, too. The veggie nachos were very small in portion size and poor value at $18. Our server was Brett and he was wonderful.

Unexpected Gem

We have had a summer place here for a few years. Have passed Papa Joe's many times and thought it was a pizza place. We were in for a huge treat. It is anything but pizza. It is 5 star dining but family friendly and not overly priced. Had the homemade turkey soup as an appetizer. Amazing!! We also had the meat loaf and the short rib. Both were excellent. The owner came by and introduced himself and we were very impressed how friendly all the staff were. This will definitely become a regular place to eat for us. Fantastic family run restaurant.

Great find- just outside town

Obviously, a local favorite. This is a wonderful menu, the calamari was homemade and battered and fried to perfection, the salad was fresh and delicious and the haddock was good. Ask for the fries well done— the sweet potato fries came out great. A big thank you to DENNNY, our waitress, who was so very accommodating.

We have been enjoying every experience Jo Jo Jowe have had as loyal customers of Papa Joe’s. You could always count on consistency. My husband ordered a steak sandwich this time. It was so rare there was red juice everywhere. And the grissle was left on. It was gross. We were really frustrated and disappointed. We picked up our order and took to friends party 30 mins out of town 👎👎
