We came on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy - but that didn't affect the friendliness of the service or the quality of the food. Portions are generous, special requests were happily received. Desserts were awesome! I had th parmesan crusted haddock and it was excellent.

The Pilot House was our favorite restaurant during a two week trip throughout the Maritimes. The rustic brick and wood beams provide a homely atmosphere in this upscale pub. The service is very good and attentive. The craft beer and ale selection is excellent as is the reasonably priced food. The Cajun Seafood salad was brimming with large pieces of choice seafood morsels and the Seafood Chowder was among the best we ever had. It can get busy and a reservation may be advisable.

This is our favorite restaurant in Charlottetown and we visit nearly every year. The food and service is consistently good. The steamed clams in white sauce along with the best sweet potato fries make a great lunch. They have a pleasant patio - not a great view but some trees and umbrellas for shade. They were very careful with disinfecting the tables between each customer as per COVID-19 health guidelines. Inside is comfortable pub style and also a more formal dining room that we have never chosen.

Visit the place recently. I ordered the steak and frites. It was the worst dish I ever had in my life, the fries were hard as rocks. Really bad! Im sure they can do better, well after that anyone can. If you decided to visit the resto please never order that. I shouldn't pay for that, even the waiter noticed that I left all of them in the plate and never asked if everything was ok with my order. They probably were trying to sell week old fries.

First I will say our server was fantastic and did her best in a bad situation. We reserved a table a month ago as we were excited to return to Pilot House during our stay and our last visit, a decade ago was amazing and we still remember it fondly. This visit, not so much. The service was great and again our server was great but their inability to cook a steak was shocking. After two failed attempts (ordered medium rare, received uncooked), we gave up and I resorted to picking away at everyone else’s plates. While our appetizer was comped (and obviously didn’t pay for an inedible steak) we were shocked that no manager came by to say anything. Leaving the service to try to defend how the kitchen couldn’t cook their main steak even close to properly TWICE was bizarre. We felt terrible for her and hats off to her for how she handled herself. I can’t recommend Pilot House anymore which is sad. I know these are challenging times but when you pay $150 and one person failed to receive their meal, there is an issue. I hope they can fix it.

We fell upon this phenomenal restaurant and it turned out to be the best food we had while visiting PEI and argumentatively the best dining experience we’ve ever had! Staff were beyond friendly upon arrival, the patio with like music and interior designs of the restaurant was so inviting and our waiter (sorry forget his name but he was a Fleming teacher) was beyond friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with him! Now onto the food, WOW! First off, we were shocked with how reasonably priced all of the food was! We started with nachos and for our mains, we had the Panko chicken…my husband is still raving about it, my son ordered the best burger he’s ever had in his life and my daughter had some awesome mussels and I had the haddock…AMAZING! I am a pescatarian (vegetarian who eats fish and dairy) and I also have celiac. The menu was very clearly marked as to which items were gluten free or gluten free option. Having celiac and eating out can often be frustrating so I appreciate restaurants like The Pilot who include gluten free options on their menu and most importantly…the food was incredible! Will definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Pilot House one of the many restaurants participating in this M&B April food event. Tried a new menu item appetizer -beef poppers- just okay, nice spicy heat but wouldn't order again. The roast beef sandwich which was the M&B feature was a hit, the accompanying fries were good but a bit cold. The star of the evening was the Seafood Cajun salad. Salmon, white fish, scallop and a couple of shrimp beautifully blackened served warm on a bed of salad. Would definitely order again. Very nice with a 5 oz (9oz also possible by the glass) of Malbec from Don David. Tried the date pudding which was good but not great. Service by Megan was efficient. Definitely reserve.

Our visit to the pilot house was wonderful. It was a very busy day and their casual atmosphere, good food and friendly staff was a great way to wind down. Their entrees are well priced and the presentation is well done. I had the chicken crepes, crab cakes and sticky date pudding. I highly recommend all 3. The only complaint I will make is the staff wearing their masks. I am writing this review during virus times in case you didn't know. Dont get me wrong, regardless of my opinion of everything, I have no issue with anyone who has been scared into wearing a mask by all the scare tactics that have been placed upon society but I do feel that it is wrong to be forced to wear them by your employer. I believe this is the case at this restaurant as every single employee had one on and they were all the same type and color so I know they were issued to them. Other restaurants do not use them so it is not like it is law at the present time. So you ask me, why are you against the mask wearing? When I go out to a restaurant these days I am trying to get a break from all of this craziness and the mask reminds me that it is still here. That was a small hiccup despite my ranting. This is a great restaurant and I will be back.

The Pilot House had good reviews which is why we selected to go for a family dinner. We have walked by there many times over the years as we have been to PEI many times. We decided to try it out. The oyster were really good. Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our main meals. 2 of our group had the halibut special - the halibut was good but the vegetables were cold and the potatoes were not even cooked. I had a seafood salad and the seafood was very dry. Unfortunately the food and service time of food was very poor. They need to step it up quite a bit if they want to compete with Sim’s for food quality, service and wine selection. The waiter was very apologetic saying the kitchen was backed up and did offer to remove from the bill a couple of drinks. We were hoping for another “go to” in Charlottetown but were very disappointed.

We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the Cajun salad (not spicy), fish and chips and the Buddha Bowl. It was so nice to have good gluten free options. The red lentils in the Buddha bowl should have been cooked a little longer. The service was fast and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant

The Pilot House has no interest in catering to non-meat eaters. When I asked my server if she had any options without meat, she proudly said "No." When I pressed, she volunteered to take the meat out of a salad but then didn't realise the dressing wasn't vegan. 15% of Canadians are vegetarian. 8% are vegan.

Got to dine in, in a booth separated from the next booth by a plexiglass sheet. Simpler, single sheet COVID-19 menu, but still great choices. Based on the recommendation of a family member, my wife had the Seafood Cajun Salad, a wonderful dinner all by itself. Shrimp, scallops, etc. I just had a burger, but it was a great burger. Nice crispy fries with it.

Met friends here on Friday night .It was busy but they were able to find us a table outside. I had the lobster roll which they did with a side of hot butter (instead of mayonnaise) per my request. It was excellent, full of lobster meat and there was cucumber and avocado inside the bun as well. Delicious! Came with a Caesar which was very good as well! For dessert I had the date pudding, yummy! Service was very friendly and accommodating.

Great setting and good service. We shared the mussels as an appetizer and they were good. I had the scallops for dinner with mushroom risotto. The scallops were good but rather small - 5 scallop portion- which would be fine if larger. Small amount of chimichura on top. My husband had the Parmesan crusted haddock. We thought it was very small portion and overdone- deep fried I think. We were disappointed with our mains as we’ve had better food on PEI

We decided to try Pilot House because it looked busy and was close to our hotel. We had two nights in Charlottetown and we ate supper here both nights because it was so good! The best food I've had in a long while. We had 4 different entree's between the two evenings, plus the oysters to start and dessert one night. The roasted vegetables were so amazing that we made sure our meals the second night included them as well. We highly recommend trying it! It looked like a lot of the items were locally sourced as well which is fantastic. Prices were very reasonable as well.
