Situated in an old heritage Royal Bank office with magnificent ceiling and architecture. A great place to people watch and the coffee is pretty good

It is hard to believe that this whole space is dedicated to a cafe, which makes the experience all the more unique. I am so happy we decided to visit. My latte was good -- non-dairy options available (thank you!). Bathrooms were a bit tricky...to find and I did not find any signs pointing me in the direction. Staff were helpful however! Seating is tricky. People are there to stay and finding a spot is a bit competitive. We were lucky that two people got up from the table that we happened to be standing next to.More

Visited twice for coffee and quick bites. All food and drink was high quality and on the pricier side. This place is designed for public offerings as well as paid for reserved meeting space. That’s great but beware there’s very little public seating and people...are waiting for those in the common areas to get up and are very aggressive in securing seats when given the chance. Even seats that looked like they were up for grabs had reserved signs on them and it was Uncomfortable trying to find a place to chill. Def recommendation is to get everything to go and not Battle the crowd.More

Found this gem through Fodor's recommendation. My husband and I love our Starbucks, but having an independent coffee shop touted so highly, we had to check it out. It was close to our hotel (St Paul) and is housed in a gorgeous former bank building...from the 1920's. The elements of the bank are prevalent: the coffee counter still looks like the bank teller windows, elegant glass topped tables, super tall ceilings, communal tables and comfy chairs, etc. They offer reserved meeting rooms throughout the space for conducting business and free wi-fi. The croissants were to die for!More

This is a fabulous coffee lounge in an amazing old bank building with soaring ceilings and marble floors. The place is huge and is also used by students using their laptops in salubrious surroundings. Coffee is good and there is a selection of cakes, pastries,...quiches etc. despite its size it is surprisingly cozy and warm.More

This place was next to our Hotel and the Hotel staff recommended this to us as a place to visit for good coffee but also for the ambience as the place used to be the HQ or a main branch of one of the grand...Canadian banks before they moved to Toronto. When you step in from the main door you would not think you are going into a coffee shop as the inside is very grand. As you climb up the steps to the coffee shop area, you are suddenly surprised as how grand it is with very elegant and traditional area with very high ceilings with ceiling mosaics.... all walls are stone/brick Food/Drink - ordered coffee and vegan cake. Coffee was very good (decent strong) and cake was very good Service - good Ambience - you have to see it to believe it. Go and check it out for yourself! If you are in the area, make sure to visit itMore

Very impressive old antique bank that got turned into a nice cafeteria. Open concept with large working tables and couches, also has small cubicles for small parties. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It does get VERY busy during weekdays working hours as it’s located...in the heart of downtown area. Simple food menus with good selections of light meals and snacks. Good variety of tea and coffee. The average price for the food and drink items are higher than others. The only disappointment is the washroom is down the basement sharing with other tenants in the building and also require a key to go in, could cause some inconvenience for some customers. Overall, it’s a neat environment, if you are in town you should check it out.More

We visited this former bank on our walking tour of old Montreal and decided to go back (via the interesting World Trade Centre) on our own the next day for a coffee. Late afternoon the place was very busy, most people on their laptops or...phones and several of the "pods" available for meetings were full. We sat watching the crowds, sipping our lovely coffee and reading the names on the war memorial of bank employees. mostly killed during the first world war. Full of English, Irish and Scottish names. The architecture and chandeliers were beautiful.More
