I had such a pleasant evening on a solo work trip in old Montreal. So many restaurants to choose from; I eyed Maggie Oakes the night before, but they were booked for the night. I came to Maggie's the next evening, and I'm so glad...I did. I enjoyed their salmon filet in a bed of carrot puree and baby bok choy, with hollandaise sauce on the side. Very filling, it was so delicious I finished my plate. I decided to sit at the bar (what else is a lady to do on a solo work trip?). I enjoyed talking to other patrons at the bar, very pleasant and professional 👌. Camilo was very attentive, and provided chilled ice water upon sitting at the bar. I requested a custom drink, which he made to absolute perfection, I had to order it twice. Camilo also tended to other patrons at the bar with their specialty requested which he fulfilled in a heartbeat. I truly enjoyed my last dining experience here in Montreal, thank you Camilo for making it a memorable one.More

I had really high hopes judging from the reviews, but my meal wasn't good. The appetizer was good but I ordered a steak dish as an entree and it didn't come as described. The steak also didn't seem seasoned. I really think the chef forgot...to season it because the accompanying vegetables were seasoned well but not the steak. I only ate half. I got the bill and I think they served me a different steak dish, which makes sense since it didn't look as described. The vibe is nice though. I recommend grabbing a drink and appetizer, but maybe skip for dinner.More

We had family dinner for a birthday. The entrees, main course, the desserts, drinks, everything was very well prepared and very good. Special thanks to Louis who gave an impeccable service! We had someone with food allergies (dairies), and he and the kitchen team did...a great job, having a replacement sauce for the salmon was a delicate attention to his customer! ( instead of no sauce at all like many other restaurants choose to do!! ) Thank you!! We will return!More

We had a wonderful dinner and Sunday brunch. (We had to return!) The craft cocktails were fresh and the wine list impressive. The salmon was perfectly prepared, including for the one member of our group who is allergic to EVERYTHING. At brunch the Eggs Benedict...was presented so beautifully you hated to dig in, but totally satisfied when you did. The service was professional including the maitre d' who pulled out our chairs, the servers, and accompanying wait staff... all delightful. If our visit had been longer we would have returned.More

Came for breakfast- good pancakes with fruit and ricotta. Very attentive staff, nice decor and much bigger than it appeared from the street. Would come back for breakfast or try lunch/dinner.

This restaurant is so different than most of the others in this area who mostly serve pizza and pasta. Maggie has a menu with specific dishes. Staff does it best to make your stay pleasant. Fast, polite and eye for detail. Sabrina B knows about...hospitality and about the food. and very friendly indeed. Gives good advice. Their dessert, chocolate and caramel I can recommend. And she helped me to improve my FrenchMore

This spot is a perfect place for a leisurely lunch on a patio. Our server was attentive and pleasant. The food was outstanding and the presentation beautiful. We enjoyed sipping our wine while dining and enjoying the views along the street.

We came for lunch our first day and again for dinner later in the trip. The food is fresh and was well made both times. The lunch service was better, but the dinner hour was busier. Everyone was friendly. I'd recommend it.

We met with family at the last minute on a Saturday and most places were fully booked. So we tried this place. The dining room is nice and spacious. For meat lovers, the meat display might impress. We are arrived at 7:30pm and while we...chatted, there was no rush to take our order. When they finally took it around 8 pm, they ran out of the Porterhouse, so another cut was selected. We also ordered the Tomahawk cut for two, as well as salmon and for starters, oysters, beef tartare and a soup and drinks. When the soup arrived, there was no soup spoon and when we asked for it, the manager brought it and said, don’t worry - the spoon comes with the soup. Not funny. After the appetizers, the actual meal for our table of did not arrive until 9:10 pm. Is it reasonable to wait 45 minutes for the mains? The server told us once that it wouldn’t be long. But oh, it WAS. Also the manager noticed is waiting but only stood at the bar, he did not approach our table at all for the duration of our meal. And the restaurant was not full. It was a long day and we were very hungry by the time our meal arrived. The Tomahawk steak for two was okay (it more cooked than the medium rare that was requested). The veggies were good. The best dish was the steak bavette - the least expensive meal we ordered. The total bill for our table was $950. Not inexpensive. A disappointing experience, when dining and there is a delay, the manager or a server would let us know why and maybe offer something complimentary while we waited. Not here. Also, for $250 for a steak platter, we would expect it to be cooked as requested. Unfortunately this place did not impress our out of town guests.More

We hadn’t planned on eating out but I recalled seeing this on Trip Advisor so as we passed it, we decided to stop in. My omelet with mushrooms and Gruyère was wonderful with fresh fruit and fried potatoes. My friend had eggs Benedict and he...was very pleased. So glad we stopped.More

We have a lovely business dinner at Maggie Oakes. Our table for our large party were ready and in a private room when we arrived. Service was wonderful. The selection of wine was exceptional. The food was very good. No complaints. The restaurant itself is...large and was quite busy. No complaints here. And would definitely return when back in Montreal.More
