Spent an evening with some friends on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was about half full. Apparently, they have lineups to get in on the weekend. All our dishes were really good, except that there were no salads to order. The restaurant is a bring your own wine, which gives the impression that your meal will be reasonably priced. We... More

I haven't wrote a review in quite some time, but A l'Os experience was so great it took me out of my review torpor. First, service : courteous, attentive. Would chill and pour the wine upon arrival to ensure the best experience Then food : while the starter went without highlight, the main got all my attention - this was... More

Wow. What a great BYOB. If you love meat, this is your place. A great way to ditch those vegans. I mean it. Don't bother asking for a vegetarian dish, they will just give you bread. And great bread it is. I had the beef cheeks, and it was superb.

Service was insanely slow and it's bring your own wine so you have lootttts of time to sip on your wine. Okay, we went on Valentine's day so they're half forgiven but seriously, they knew it was Valentine's Day and could have prepared for that. Oyster's don't take that long to shuck. That being said, service was friendly and dessert... More

Sometimes I don't feel like spending 150$ on wine but I still want to culinary experience and that's exactly what A l'os gave me. First of all, sadly most of Montreal fine BYOB are not looking like a fine restaurant but A l'os is a very beautiful place with a nice atmosphere. It's not too tight just perfect space between... Third time back, the caring service remains the same but I must say that the telltale "menu degustation" was underwhelming... Maybe just the luck of the day. The place remains a great BYOB place in Montréal.

We took the 5 courses at 60$ (+ a 6th for the foie gras, at 15$) tasting menu and it was absolutely delicious. It was one of our best experience in Montreal -- there was a lot of attention put to each plates, in the overall portion -- not too much, just enough to get a great meal over the... More

This was our 3rd visit to this restuarant. The first two were amazing experiences with the tasting menu which had never let down. Since then, chef Sambas Herman has left and given the spotlight to his collegue and wuite frankly, 3rd time wasn't the charm. We went on a wintery night in february. Big snow storm on a sunday evening... More

A L'Os is a cut above your standard BYOB. The seating area is spacious and bright with an open kitchen. The seats are comfortable and the tables reasonably spaced. The menu includes a la carte, table d'hôte and tasting options. We opted for the first. The oysters on half shell were super fresh and expertly opened. The accompanying vinaigrette was... More

I was invited by a couple of friends to a birthday celebration at this restaurant. We collectively choose the sample service, as the menu was a bit strange to us and could not decide what to try. So we let the chef choose for us! Well, I was not impressed even if my friends found it good. We were served... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
