Best KOIIGN I have ever eaten! Friendly courteous staff! The kitchen is open and all you see is the chefs working with all natural ingredients.

Worth a stop when you are strolling through the Plateau neighbourhood. The specialty which I think is called a Kouign Amann, was absolutely stellar. Simple ingredients of butter, flour and sugar (with carmelized sugar topping). I would have taken a phot but ate it too quickly. I had to resist the primal urge to go back to get more! The... More

The kouign amann is out of this world and worth every calorie. I would move to Montreal just for these pastries. You must go! Cash only!

I have had kouign amanns in Seattle, New York and Boulder. All were amazing, of course (it's hard to go wrong with a caramelized croissant!). But this was the first time I've seen this pastry made as it is in Brittany -- in a round little cake that's sliced into wedges. Oh my! One of the best things I've ever... More

This small cafe serves the most amazing pastries. It's busy, because it's good. There are only a few small tables, and many people carry out there food. Try the namesake pastry - Kouign Amann. Delicious.

Not from Montreal, found this place here on Trip Advisor and we are definitely glad we came here. As the reviews stated, line was out the door but worth the wait. We intend to return here whenever visiting Montreal!! FYI, cash only.

On my way to hike Mont Royal, I noticed several folks lined up outside this bakery. It being early on a quiet Saturday morning, I realized there must be something special about this bakery. There certainly was! The most delicious baked goods I have eaten ever. The layers of the croissants were so buttery and wonderful, both the toasted almond... More

In a city filled with amazing patisseries, this is one of the best(if not the best). Went twice in 2 days(should have gone again on my last day). Everything was delicious and fresh(and warm from the oven if you get there early enough. Their name sake pastry is one of the most delicious things I have ever had! Go early,... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
