A really outstanding experience. Not a large restaurant, very cozy, but still felt very happening. And that was on a Monday night. Food was first class, as was the service. Old building, with a lot of character and great music playing in the background. Several people eating at what looked like a nice bar.

We had the charcuterie and olives for app. It was all one kind of olives, and prosciutto ham with butter and mustard and some pickles. Was good..: but no Cheese. We had the paella and chicken, both were very very good! Desert was creek brûlée and the merengue . We loved them. I'm giving 5 stars for the ambiance and... More

Our experience at Barroco was amazing! Me and my friends were served at the bar by Guillaume who was fantastic. We had the Charcuterie and the Foie Gras, both were well plated and had wonderful pairings to go along with it. The Foie Gras was one of the best I've ever tried, would go back just for that! Drinks had... More

We were made for experiences like this. Showing up with no reservations, 8pm on a Friday and two seats at the bar. The beautiful mixologist (whose name I cannot find at this moment) helped us wade through the cocktail menu and came up with just the right starter for each of us. Local gin made my husband smile. When we... More

After eating at the sister restaurant next door (Bocata) and thoroughly enjoyed that experience, we decided to have dinner at Barroco. We were warmly received by the staff especially Pascal who took care of us earlier at Bocata for brunch. The setting is beautiful, the cocktails are little pieces of artistic work and the food gorgeous. When I return to... More

We sat at the bar for a cocktail before moving on to our dinner reservation elsewhere and wished we could have stayed for dinner here! Cool cocktail bar and had fun watching the bartender make unique drinks. Prices are high but this is a beautiful spot with a great vibe and excellent service. Can't comment on the food as we... Been here 3 times over the years and the food and service has always been top notch. On the most recent visit, started with 6 oysters to share along with the crispy Cornish hen as my main. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. The main was also delicious but the restaurant was so dark I could not see what... More

Service was attentive and well informed with lots of helpful suggestions. The decor and ambience was pleasant and the music wasn't intrusive as is often the case. My dining partner and I the pea soup which was wonderful, followed by the rack of lamb, salsify, Dauphinoise potatoes and black truffle and my partner had the spaghetti truffle which he said... I ate here at the recommendation of our hotel Concierge. Myself and an old friend were looking for a lads dinner with good steak. The experience from Cocktails to dessert was warm, professional, and very positive. The menu is not overly large but between that and the specials it covered all our needs perfectly. Our waitress/server made some excellent recommendations... More

Description
At Barroco you can expect to enjoy inspired French Mediterranean fare in a warm and cozy atmosphere. With its dim lighting, stone walls and inspired decor, we offer fine dining that is chic but certainly not stuffy! Our friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff will do everything to make sure your experience is a memorable and enjoyable one. Reservations are highly recommended as our small 45-seat dining room tends to fill up quickly! We'll be happy to speak to you on the phone or you can head over to Bookenda to book a table. Looking forward to seeing you!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
