We had a great time here. I’m a time when most restaurants seem to be struggling to find staff this place seems to be thriving. Their team was having fun and working well together. That really contributed to the evening. The cocktails were excellent and...served very quickly. Lots of food options, for all tastes. We enjoyed everything. Some items were only good not great. Only strange issue, one of our party requested that guacamole be omitted from the nachos and they refused. Wasn’t a deal breaker but seemed rather strange. Would go back, in fact we tried to the next night but they were full.More

What another great evening at one of what my Boyfriend calls “our spots” 💕 Great service - it wasn’t busy tonight - the best margaritas I’ve had in Montreal, great atmosphere… We tried the chicken wings, chips & 3 kinds of dip, tacos al pastor...(him) and the fish tacos (me) and we loved it all! The delicious dips & crema seal the deal for us! Can’t wait to return!More

Normally this wouldn’t quite be “terrasse weather” for me... but we just *had* to! The Old Port was packed but we got very lucky and only waited 5 minutes to get a table at Escondite’s terrasse. We loved the margaritas, the quesadilla, the tacos and...the chips & salsa! Great spot to people watch too :) We did not linger since it was chilly on my bare legs and the line up was still pretty long when we left at 8:30pm. Note that they don’t take reservations at the moment. We will be back all summer 💕More

Amazing food and busy, noisy restaurant ❤️ We loved the decor, and the food, omg!! My Boyfriend just couldn’t get enough of the tacos el pastor. **If you are a big guy, the 2 tacos are kind of a small portion. Order 4! I had...the cheese and mushroom quesadilla and it was just absolutely delicious. Mushrooms, though I love them, are usually pretty bland but here you can really taste the flavor, and the cheese too. The dip served on the side was so good too. And the margarita!! Best margarita I’ve had in a while. Although we had an amazing night, I can’t quite give 5***** to this place since I agree with previous reviews that service was slow (we only got water and gave our drink order a full 20 minutes after we were seated) and extremely disorganized... after a waiter finally took out our order, a 2nd waitress showed up to take our order lol :) and then it happened again with the bill. The bathroom lighting is extremely dim, I was ok but if you are older or can’t see well, watch out. Oh and the young lady working as a hostess is a credit to the restaurant btw. She was working her ass off! Bussing tables, serving plates etc etc and hosting. And got our wait staff to wake up when we weren’t getting served. Thanks!! We will be back for sure!!More

If I could give a zero I would! We set a reservation for 8:30pm for 3 of us and when we arrived they said it would be a couple of minutes. Initially thought that would be fine..no big deal...then they said maybe 10 or 15...mins. By 9:00pm we had still not been seated and there was a line out the door...and some of them also had reservations. Finally the hostess offered us some counter seats and said that she would move us as soon as our table was available. We were seated and then forgotten!! No one came to give us water or ask if we would like to start with drinks etc!! Wow - REALLY bad service. They DO NOT know how to run a restaurant. And meantime there was a table at the front with 3 chairs and the 2 people sitting there were nursing waters...and then they ordered another beer.... The restaurant was such a disappointment! Will not go there again and WILL NOT RECOMMEND. Save yourself the stress and go to La Capital Tacos instead....so good!More

We made a reservation for 8:30 on a Saturday night, we showed up on time but there was no available tables because apparently some tables ‘overstayed’. After waiting for 30 minutes we finally got seated at a temporary spot for a drink while waiting for...our table to be free. For the next 15 minutes, no one came to serve us so we decided to leave. What a waste of our time. If you value your time, I strongly recommend you not to go there. Unacceptable service, the manager should be ashamed.More

I’ve been to Montreal many times but had not previously been to Escondite in Old Montreal, now having eaten there I will definitely be back. I was two colleagues so we shared a pitcher of margarita and then selected some tacos with the assistance of...our waitress. I had the fish tacos, pulled pork and the chicken mole, two of each. Each had nicely balanced flavours with just the right amount of spice.More

Creative flavors, but small portions. I paid for $20 for guacamole with chips, and two tiny tacos. They have a nice outdoor space that is shielded from the sidewalk. Staff was nice in accommodating our large group.

This was a surprising find for us. it was lunch and we were wandering the streets hungry trying to decide what to eat. I loved the quirky vibe of the restaurant. We were greeted and promptly seated. Our waitress as friendly, if not on the...slightly cool side. I had a delicious margarita and could easily have had three more. We started with guacamole and chips. Our table ordered three different kinds of tacos: Baja, Pollos Hermanos, and steak. All were delicious. Price for lunch was reasonable.More

My friend and I were had lunch on the patio. The decor on the patio reminded me so much of Mexico. We ordered guacamole with chips, tacos and mojitos. I opted for the fish tacos. The food delicious!! The atmosphere and decor in the restaurant...was really cool too. The service was just okay. The food totally made up for the service!More
