Yas Restaurant is right around the corner from me. Had noticed it when I was out for a walk exploring my new neighbourhood. I had a bowl of barley soup which was delicately flavoured. It was paired with a beef kabob presented rolled with a pita blanket. Delicious! And great value at $13. The establishment is tiny. It is also spotless and graced with a friendly hostess. I'll be back!

Sad place, we were alone at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night with another couple just leaving. The food tasted okay, but no fireworks. Looked like something I can make from leftovers in 15 minutes. Too bad, because I went there before the pandemic and had much better experience.

I went there with a friend for lunch . Not many people there. we both found the food very substandard . I could have cooked much better. I do not recommend this place to anyone .

Yas is an Iranian restaurant which offers great choice of Iranian dishes. I visited the restaurant during the covid period where dine-in was not possible and I got a take away. The food was decent and the lady who took the order was very gentle, well-mannered and offered explanation about the dishes on the menu. The order was also ready in fairly a short amount of time. It was also a very gentle touch to include a complementary small desert in the pack.
Having said the above, there is room for improvement in the service and manners. First, I had to wait for nearly ten minutes for anyone to come a collect the order. I expressed my presence a few times to no avail until the lady came. Second, the man who came in and walked into the kitchen (not sure the owner or an acquaintance of kitchen staff) was really ill-mannered. He asked the people inside if my order was ready but he used the word "Yaru" to refer to me in his question. This word is an extremely rude derogatory remark in Persian which should not be used publicly, unless one has no sense of respect, specially to the clients.
Overall, the food was nice and the lady was very gentle. Only wish if the man was better-mannered.

Perhaps my opinion would be different if I was used to eating Persian food, but I'm not. We were shown to a table but weren't readily attended to. Finally we were given a menu but the descriptions were difficult to decipher, even with help from the server. It took forever to receive our food which was okay, but nothing great. But you can bring your own wine which is a plus but everything is a LA care which means you get nothing included. For the price they should have thrown in a soup or salad. After, we waited terribly long to receive our bill. Cozy yes, nice staff yes, but we won't be returning.

Many people recommend Yas, saying it is very authentic. I decided to give it a go, and invited a bunch of people to have dinner there. Reservation was easily made on the phone, and you are allowed to bring your own wine or bubbly, which are a big plus. Also, the menu is really interesting, and seems very authentic to Iranian food. On my first visit I've had the aubergine dish, which was very very good. It tasted very Iranian. The chicken and beef skewers that my friends ate were very good too. I will definitely go back to try more from their menu. The food is overall fairly priced.
There's 3 negative points that explain why I gave 3/5:
- Although the menu has different options, there is a lot more bbq and grilled meat, than typical Iranian stews, which is a bit sad.
- The restaurant is far. You first travel to the Vendôme metro station, where you have to take a bus to get there.
- I ordered a baklava for dessert, and received only a very small piece (maybe 1 inch), which cost me 5$ in the end. A bit ridiculous to charge 5$ for this.

We celebrate our 30th Anniversary In Yas restaurant. It was so good and we had a memorable night with our friends !
The food and service was so good. The price is reasonable and It is good that you can bring your wine !
You should try the ice cream !

I had lunch with a group of friends and we ordered a 3 course meal a la carte. We brought our own wine which was a plus. The appetizers were good but not outstanding. I had an eggplant with mushroom accompanied by a heap of balsami rice for my main course which was very good. The dessert was a pudding with honey and was fine.

We were 2 couples and wanted to try something a bit different and decided to make a Saturday night reservation at Yas. The restaurant is small but cozy. We arrived at 7:15 pm and were quickly seated by Sofia. We had each printed a coupon for a free appetizer that I had found on Resto Montreal but we were told we couldn't use them on the week-end. Funny, because I checked again on line when i got home and no where did it have an stipulations as to days of the week.
Having said that, we ordered 2 appetizers ($9.00) to share. We tried their # 2, Kashko Bademajoon (grilled aubergine topped with fried onion, garlic, mint and kashk) and also their # 3, Mirza Ghasemi (grilled aubergine, eggs, garlic and tomato). Both were very good.
For our mains, 2 of us tried their # 40, Beef Koobideh ($17.00), 2 skewers of charcoal ground beef kabobs. Each was served with Basmati rice and a tomato. I was told both were very flavorful and the rice was delicious.
We also tried their # 34, Zereshk Polo ($17.00), chicken in a rich tomato sauce topped with barberries on a bed of Basmati rice. Again, very good but could have used an extra piece of chicken (the chicken pieces were small).
I wanted to try their # 33, Baghala Polo ($21.00), lamb shank in a rich tomato sauce, also served with Basmati rice. Very good, flavourful, fall off the bone lamb.
I noticed that all the meals were served on very large plates, giving the impression that there could have been room for something else. A small green salad would have complimented each of our the meals and filled up the plate.
We finished our supper with 2 orders of Bastani ($7.00), homemade Saffron ice cream. Very tasty. I also tried their Persian tea ($2.50).
Yas is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm. They have no delivery but you can call ahead and pick up. Enjoy.

After read few reviews about Restaurant Yas🌺 I decided to invited my friend there. It was a little far from his place but the food and environment and music were excellent 😊 you can bring your own wine there 🍷I do recommend them 🌹🎼
