Quite a popular little bistro for drinks and/or lunch or dinner. A little breezy at times (winter) when the doors opened but the plastics sheets separating the door and bistro helped. The food was fine. I started with the calmar followed by the homemade sausage which I enjoyed. My wife had the chicken burger platter. A house wine went well... More

A lively pub atmosphere with good local beers, speciality cocktails and bistro food. Good time! The pull pork Poutine and the bavette were both excellent. Attentive staff.

We went to NYK's twice during our stay in Montreal. A very cosy place, with a varied card and daily specials. We ordered mussels in white wine, they were delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the main menu about CAD 15-18. The service was fast, very pleasant, even when it was very busy in the restaurant. The atmosphere was French... More

We ate here on a Sunday night. It is right up the same street from the Le Dauphin Hotel. Good crowd for a Sunday. Good food and good service. You sit very close to the table next to you if that's a problem for anybody. $5-6 draughts. Ten or so on tap. Price is right when you use your exchange... More

We arrived at the venue around 6.30 having just got off a flight from London so about 11.30 Uk time. We didnt have a reservation and the place was full but the lady who greeted us didnt seem phased and promised to find us a table within 10 minutes - which she did. While waiting we enjoyed a great pint... More

I sat at the bar. Solo the first night, with a business colleague the second night. Liked it so much the first night, decided to go back even if there is an abondance of restaurants in Montréal. Loved the beer selection. Bartenders will let you have a little taste of a beer before you go ahead order a full one... More

A popular place - it was full when I visited - Good selection of food and beer and friendly attentive staff. I didn't try the food, but what was being served the guests around me looked very appetising.

Cool ambiance, throwback to the pubs of 50 years ago. Great service, interesting menu and good choices of beers and wines. Personal foul: I dislike TV screens other than in sports bars, but I suppose many people enjoy them. Thank god the sound is off! Hopefully this trend will reverse. A fun place to spend a couple of hours!

The receptionist at my hotel recommended Nyk's. The aroma from the kitchen was wonderful. Everything is made fresh. The food was delicious and the service was good. We would definitely go back.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
