Met a sommelier friend here, with our own bottle of wine and ate amazing food for less than $25 each! I particularly appreciated the salmon tartare, and my fish was perfectly seasoned. The extremely professional staff served us and our wine with flair and efficiency. I will visit here again, probably with more people and more wine.

We loved the atmosphere in this BYOB restaurant with its log burner and informal bistro style. The service was quite simply excellent. Whatever we needed was provided or offered before we asked for it. Our waitress' knowledge of and enthusiasm for the food we were being served were perfect. The soup was a simple but tasty leek and potato affair,... More

I am not a frequent diner at BYOB establishments. Mainly because the general BYOB is average. Quartier General is not the case. It will be a gastronomic experience for you to enjoy. It is always busy, so reserve well in advance. Parking is difficult, located in the Plateau's residential area. That said, we started out with 12dz oysters that were... More

Had been wanting to dine here and finally did so on this visit, to a just-ok lunch. Pleasant enough ambiance and pleasant service but the food was not outstanding. I ordered the escalope de veau, which turned out to be a fried slice of veal, prepared like a ton katsu (fried pork cutlet) in a Japanese restaurant, but not as... More

We loved this restaurant. The food is sourced locally as much as possible, and is cooked in interesting and delicious ways. The ambiance is great. No music, which we appreciated as we go out to talk with our friends, and could hear one another clearly. We very much liked selecting our own wines beforehand, and appreciated the savings this brought... More

Dinner with friends. 37$ for 4 courses - soup or salad, appetizer, main dish and dessert. Of course you can choose all or only some and the cost will be altered. I had carrot soup, pork cheeks, duck breast and caramel apples and they were all amazing. Our Server was funny and attentive but not overbearing. All the servers are... More

We were there on a Thursday night, fortunately made a reservation. Unlike other restaurants that night, the place was packed. Still, we were not rushed, the service was genuine and professional, and the menu and chef excellent. The tartar, well, I could eat it daily. The prices are a little high but since you bring your own wine(s) from the... More

Stopped in by accident for an early wine before going to another restaurant. We were treated to a small appetizer and immediately knew we needed to have dinner there. My wife had Quail and I had Rabbit. The best I ever had! Even out did New Orleans. So impressed with the chefs cooking I had to meet him and gave... More

Went with a group of friends for lunch. The restaurant was almost fully booked, which is always reassuring. The lunch menu was interesting and well priced. However, my salmon tartare was lacking in flavour and the pieces were too large. Overall it was okay, but not great. It was difficult to find parking as the restaurant is located on Le... More

I'm so glad we discovered this gem of a restaurant nestled in on an otherwise residential street in the Plateau. The service was amazing. Our waitress provided an intricately detailed description of each item on the menu. Our soup entrees were lovely, and our mains amazing. Lunch was a steal, with entree, main, coffee and dessert for less than $30... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
