We were actually staying in the Intercontinental, but chose to eat at the Gazette several times. The food options were good, my group had breakfasts, supper, and evening snacks. I loved the burger. The poutine was mediocre. Watch out at breakfast with the orange jucie....Overpriced, and refills aren't free.More

Good option if you don’t want to leave the hotel. Had a couple beers and two appetizers. They were both good and service was good.

I’m generally wary of hotel restaurants. The food is often industrial, unimaginative, and poorly executed. This is not the case with gaZette. Our service was crisply efficient, friendly, helpful, and totally consistent with our expectations for fine dining. Our Octopus appetizer was excellent and creative....We ordered Pho and a hamburger, both were great. The only slight miscue is that we weren’t asked how we’d like the burger cooked, and it came out medium well. Overall, our expectations were met and exceeded.More

First of all, it would be difficult to give a rating for the restaurant without taking into account the hotel itself. The Westin is a stylish and modern hotel and the restaurant is perfectly matching this setup. It is a comfortable place to be and...to relax, either by having breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is as you can expect it from a hotel restaurant at this league and of cause, it is as well priced like that. Nothing out of the ordinary, good standard, good quality, nice and friendly service, in some cases exactly what you are looking for especially on a stressful business trip with no time to explore the area. If you, on the other hand, have some time to explore the city and the many restaurants nearby, please do so! There are lots of excellent places around and some will certainly surprise you.More

The atmosphere looks nice with a nice view of the street but the service was extremely slow. I am not sure what happened in kitchen but we got our food about an hour after we ordered. Beside the sauces, the food was not good. My...salmon was over cooked and dry. It seems that my daughter’s fillet minion has been sitting on the counter for a long time and it was super dry. We got an apology for the slow service but the food didn’t give us a closure at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place.More

Steak was incredibly small and over cooked. Chicken was so over cooked, dry and tasteless. The dipping sauce for the chicken was good. The ribs were very tasty. Refills of ice tea were not offered despite the tiny glasses. Nonetheless, the waitress was polite and...courteous. Overall, supper at Madison’s on St-Antoine street was not satisfactory. I do not recommend this restaurant.More

This is the restaurant attached to the Westin. I had an unexpectedly good dinner: Greek chicken which was marinated grilled chicken breasts over taziki and salad. Friendly service.

We were staying in the Westin and the 1st night decided to give it a try and gad a delicious dinner. The staff were very attentive but not in your face. Service very good and we ended up eating in here every night for 2...reasons. 1. The food was so good and the staff got to know us making us very welcome and 2. the snow was knee deep outside so saved us wrapping up and having to go out again ha ha. We tried loads of different items off the main menu and the Tapas menu. Ribs, onion soup, mini steak burgers, pork dumplings, charcuterie board. The Negronis were superb.More

This restaurant is in the Westin. From the moment we walked in the hostess was pleasant and accommodating even taking a few moments to chat with us. Of corse at 6:30 the place hadn’t start to roll. Then along came our server Anthony. What a...wealth of knowledge from the food choices, pairings with wine and a short history on molson. It’s seldom to find servers like Anthony and even more seldom I give a excellent rating as many things have to happen but we were off to a good start. The apps were delivered by runners. The bread came out with butter olive tapenade and a hazelnut and cardimin flavored oil which added to the olive ciabatta and 9 grain rolls. Pace yourself as Anthony warned the best was yet to come. Speaking of Anthony who kept a watchful eye when he noticed the sun glare dropped the shades so I didn’t have to use the menu as a visor. We ordered a ceaser salad ($14 cdn) and an onion soup dignon ($12 cdn). I usually pick apart the ceaser in both presentation mixture but this one was spot on in both. The onion soup was equally fantastic. We could have perhaps done with less than the 9 oz glasses of wine (2@ $19.00 cdn) but if you have not tried the red apothecary do consider. Since Anthony ( remember him) and I had a nice chat on molson it was two molson ex ($7 per cdn). Then came the entrees and the best did arrive; a macreuse de boeuf ($38 cdn) and a poulet grille ($34 cdn). The steak was cooked to perfection and the slicing of it over a variety of vegetables added to the flavor and presentation. Needless to say the mrs, who is a restaurant manager in the states, had nothing but positive comments on her 1/2 chicken. The additive of a different feta that was not salty added to the taste. Of course Anthony wasn’t surprised and stopped by to explain the ingredients. Not to worry Anthony as the other 1/2 is now in the fridge for brunch. For dessert we ordered the 6 macaroons ($12cdn) and took them with us. I always cringe when I see the two food taxes of ($24 cdn) and muse what involvement they had in this meal! While a pricey meal there are many things that have to come together to receive a five rating and that is what happens. Thanks to the chef, runners, hostess and especially Anthony for this. So far it’s the best we’ve had in our four days in Montreal. We hope you have the same experienceMore
