This little bistro is my local; I meet friends for lunch and feel part of the family. The service is excellent, the food very good and, to top it all off, you can 'bring your own wine' which makes it very affordable. Close to the Metro Guy-Concordia it is easy to get there and you wont be disappointed

I went to Au Bistro Gourmet for my work holiday party and I wasn't sure what we were getting into. It's a small unassuming place and I didn't have high expectations, but as they say don't judge a book by it's cover. We had a wonderful four course meal that was very tasty and beautifully plated. While looking around at... More

A great find just off the beaten path of St Catherine's on St Matthieu street. Welcomed by the waiter with a friendly hello in both languages. The restaurant is smallish but nicely appointed. I would recommend a reservation on the weekend. It does not serve alcohol but you can bring your own wine. If you forget there is a convenience... More

If you are looking to dine on good French food at reasonable prices, this restaurant provides it. Take a bottle of good wine from home to accompany your meal. Make sure that you book a table in advance as it can get very busy in the evenings. If you do not want a rushed meal, especially if you want to... More

Small but very comfortable restaurant with a good table d'hote. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the soup was delicious also.

Ate their two nights in a row because the food and value were that good! Family owned and run--need to bring your own wine.

In a dense part of town, so parking an annoying experience. Few, if any, meter spaces around most evenings, so the one parking lot the only choice. Add that to the bill...... better to take the metro-Guy/Concordia--west exit......1/2 block away! This is a small, long, narrow restaurant, down a few steps from the sidewalk. It's crowded, as it seats +/-40... More

Four of us had a great evening at this renovated bistro where not only do you get the classics but you can bring your own Beaujolais too,. The typical menu offers excellent soup (veg puree) or salad (large and deliciously dressed) with your main. They also offer a 5 course degustation menu for around $40, a steal if you have the... This is a small, family run restaurant; he runs the kitchen and she runs the front of the house--there are only a couple of other employees. Reservations are essential. Restaurants where no alcohol is served, but where you can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee, are a Montreal tradition. Visitors should not be put off; otherwise you... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
