We were staying at the Auberge du Vieux Port so breakfast was included, a really good selection of dishes, with complementary coffee and OJ. We also had dinner here on our first evening, my wife had French onions soup and lobster roll, I had mussels....More

Great atmosphere. excellent and friendly service. A place you can go in jeans and still get great food. The duck confit grilled cheese was spectacular

It's too bad Taverne Gaspar didn't live up to its wonderful location. While the in/outdoor seating and decor is spot-on and the music is of the fun 90s pop variety, the drinks, food and service were less than to be desired. My husband was initially...More

We stopped in here for dinner after wandering around old Montreal. I had the lobster roll which was very fresh and my boyfriend had the veal and poutine and ate every bite! Would definitely recommend!

I stopped for dinner here while I was walking through old Montreal. From the water side you could walk right by and not notice, but I would recommend you stop. The staff was friendly and the ambiance of the place was really good. For dinner...More

We dined here in Old Town on the waterfront. Group of 5 but that wasn't a problem. Had my first poutine which was very tasty. I had the flank steak with frites which was excellent and cooked properly. Others had the veal chop, and the...More

We sat outside and ate and it was wonderful. I had the mussels and fries which were delicious. We stayed at the adjoining hotel so we hadn't done any research prior to eating there. We were just hungry and it was getting late.

A plentiful choice for brunch. We ate there twice during our stay in Montréal. Everything seemed fresh and good quantities. We have egg bénédictine, omelletes, fresh fruit and youghurt (portion enough for 2-3). The service was efficace and really nice.

We ate breakfast here while staying at the hotel (see my separate hotel review) and dinner one evening. It's good quality food, with substantial portions, and certainly beat some of the other places we looked at. It has a very lively atmosphere on a fine...More

Very friendly staff, lots of options - even a kids breakfast menu, reasonable prices. Everyone loved their meal and we will visit again!

It is a very popular place and depending on what time of day, and events on in the city, you would be tight on 45 minutes. I suggest going back for dinner or spending an afternoon at their street tables.

This is a well run restaurant and a manager always seemed present and in charge. My hunch is later in the evening it would be difficult to have a group in and out in 45 minutes though.

Bonjour haakonj2016, I am happy you're asking that question as we do get a lot of gluten free requests. There aren't any choices on the menu that are gluten free yet we're very accommodating to that and always work on... More

Description
Every night, drinks flow generously as our kitchen serves up fresh, pub-style cooking. The menu: soulful staples, original cocktails and friendly service in a classic tavern setting.
The space, originally a 19th-century warehouse, preserves much of its old-school furnishings but with a few novel kicks. And come summer, we welcome the warm weather with our big terrace on rue de la Commune.
