The service was excellent, great atmosphere - but beware, the drinks/cocktails are pricey! Food underwhelming.

It was a cold night in Montreal (like 10 degrees F) and, just off the train from a long day's work, I needed someplace to sit, warm up and eat. I tried a restaurant recommended by a friend, but they were only offering an expensive fixed price menu on that night. I wandered into the Fairmont at 8 pm and... More

We ate at the Voyageurs whilst staying at the QE hotel. To be honest it did not make a strong impression. We ate and drank whilst talking business and went on our way. OK for convenience and a great central location to meet up.

Excellent service. Great place to have a cocktail and grab a bite when you want to stay in your hotel. Very nice, old-fashioned ambiance, and there's a piano player too (not sure he's there all the time though)... Not cheap (especially the drinks). Hotel will close for renos in the spring.

If you are staying at Le Reine Elizabeth and need a late night nosh or cocktail, this classic hotel bar is a good choice. Awesome wine selection, classic cocktails and a menu that is a combination of pub style food and hotel dining. Service is good and staff are very friendly. Always a mix of hotel guests and the city's... More

Les Voyageurs Bar/Restaurant is in the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. It appeared to be a reluctant participant in the MONTREAL A TABLE event ---- when first called no one seemed to know that they were participating :) I was referred to a General manager who said yes indeed they were and we made a reservation. They came through with flying... More

With the rain coming down I opted to stay in my hotel for dinner. It is a nice, old fashioned atmosphere with a good menu. I opted for the Pacific salad which was very good and the seafood was fresh. Unfortunately the waiter was probably the worst I have experienced in a very long time. After delivering my food he... More

Always stay at the QE when in Montreal, but probably won't eat here again. It just seemed tired, with none of the quality one would expect from a Fairmont--but definitely the Fairmont prices. Waiter had limited knowledge of the menu or wine list (when I ordered the Quebec cheese plate for dessert, the waiter couldn't tell me what the cheeses... More

I had a long wait in the bar for my train. Everyone was so kind there. They got me a seat by a power outlet and came periodically to check on me during the several hours I was there. Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
