Rude! Rude ! And Rude Called in for take out, they put me on hold for 10 min and then told me they are not accepting any more orders for take out.The girl that answered the phone said she was told to say "no more...orders" I asked to speak with the manager or owner but they did not want to come on the phone. So many years of ordering, almost every weekend take out and so much for respect to loyal customers.....this is the last time I dial their number. Rude!More

Since I was in the neighbourhood, decided to try this renown deli. Picked up two medium fat - old fashion sandwiches and half-sour pickles. Wow the meat was well brined and had the right amount of spices / salt / sugar ratio. Meat was sweet...and tender. Service at the take-out counter was kind and efficient. Will be my new spot when I need a smoked meat fix.More

We went there Saturday March 7 2020 to compare Schwartz to Snowdon. I ordered a fatty smoke meat, black cherry soda. My wife ordered the Smoke meat platter (Fatty) potatoe latkies and some other round pastry. (We shared) As per a youtube, snowden deli was...suppose to be the best smoke meat in montreal. It had more taste than Schwartz and wasn't bad but it is not the best. The best we have ever had around here is smoke meat pete. that you need to try.More

No need to travel downtown for smoked meat when you can go to Snowdon Deli on Décarie Boulevard. This place has been a fixture in the neighbourhood and never disappoints . The smoked meat, matzo ball soup and world class French fries are my family’s...favourites for all the generations .More

This is our go to Montreal deli. Their smoked meat is some of, if not, the best we’ve ever had. I like the fact that they serve sliced beef tongue which is fairly hard to find these days. Their French fries are outstanding. This time...we tried their potato knishes. They weren’t quite as delicate as mother used to make. We had their chopped beef liver. It was sweet and evocative of my childhood. They served a simple but delicious cucumber salad. Finally we had an order of their cheese blintzes. These were as good as or better than mother’s. Sorry, Mom. This place is worth a special trip.More

Although I know that Schwartz’s is supposed to be the go-to place for smoked meat in Montreal, I’m not the world’s biggest fan. I prefer a restaurant where the tables are private, the menu provides options other than smoked meat for those whose tastes are...different, where the service isn’t rushed; and offers payment options besides cash. So I checked out the Snowdon Deli as an alternative when a relative visited from out-of-town and we needed a smoked meat place. FOOD –Authentic! The smoked meat was delicious and available in regular and lean varieties and served on seedless rye, as is the tradition in Montreal. Mustard and frieds available on the side. But for those with a hankering for something else, the Snowdon Deli offers plenty. How about matzo ball soup with the sandwich? Coleslaw on the side (the vinegary kind, not the mayonaissy style)? What about other Jewish delicacies, like meat and cabbage (called by its Yiddish name holishkas on the menu)? Kasha and varnishes (Yiddish for bow tie noodles with buckwheat)? In the mood for breakfast at dinner time? What about an omelette with an oversized latka on the side? Dieting? What about a turkey sandwich and a salad? Whatever we have ordered there since becoming regulars, we’ve always been pleased with our food. SERVICE – Excellent. Knowledgeable. (Give good recommendations.) Flexible (niece changed her order), And prompt. ATMOSPHERE—Like a walk back into the 1980s. From the aqua blue sign above the door to the mauve and black décor; not only is the Snowdon Deli a culinary experience, the dining experience is like one from the 1980s. (And that’s a very pleasant memory.) ALSO: Note that the restaurant has a full take-away section, where you can take away prepared foods, amazing baked goods (we love the lemon-poppy cookies—the lightest we’ve ever eaten) and deli meats and salads.More

The smoked meat here is better than Schwartz and no lineups outside waiting to get a table. Ordered a platter. The smoked meat was incredibly tender, juicy and so flavourful, the fries were great and the pickles crisp and sour the way I like them....Fantastic meal. Can't wait to return!More

Let all the tourists clog up Schwartz’s on the Main. For the real thing go to Snowden’s Deli. Great smoked meat and fries. Crowded on weekends.

I have been craving a good smoke meat for awhile, yes there is Schwartz and The main but another great landmark is Snowdon. I have been to all the big name smoke meat places recently and something was missing. Just went to Snowdon deli yesterday...and boom! You guys hit it on the nose. Best smoke meat I've had in a longgggg time and will be back!!!!More
