Whenever I visit Montreal I always stop by Serafim. It's a no frills organic ...bistro. Every time I stop in Nicholas (i believe the owner) always has a suggestion beyond the menu. You indicate which way your taste buds are leaning and he will drum up a dish, even if it's not quite on the menu "that you will be... More

We visited on 7/19/15 at brunch time. By the time we left, all I could think is that they desperately need a Fengshui consultation. The food, which was good, did not compensate for the chaos. My husband's omelet was given to another patron and everyone else in our party was finished by the time his order finally arrived. No offer... More

I was here once, to have a lobster dinner. I chose my lobster from the live pool, where the owner keeps them, together with large crabs. I took a 3 lb female. It was then cooked and cleaved down the middle. Fantastic! The owner/manager (Greek?) may appear rude, but it is just as traditional in many Mediterranean (Greek or Italian)... More

we went to this restaurant because we had a good deal offered through groupon. The fine print did not specify that there were specific days when we can use the coupon. Upon calling to make a reservation, they told us that we could only use the coupon friday and saturdays only. This was a little disappointing because this gave us... More

The owner is very rude. There was a lot of signs that would be an unpleasent experience (he made us wait in the entrance, made us remove the snow of our shoes twice, he was rude with other costumers) and we didn't check the TripAdvisor before go there. After waiting for 40 min for one coffee and one latte (yes,... More

It is so surprising to see some really negative reviews of this restaurant here! I went there with my husband and our 14- month old son, and we all absolutely loved the food and the experience in general. The food is cooked using only organic ingredients and it tastes like homemade (in the best possible sense).Desserts and coffees there are... More

Caveat emptor when you buy a Tuango deal. So i can't say expectations were high. Unfortunately, i couldn't help but channel Gordan Ramsey in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares... "Oh my"... "What a shame"..."Are you serious?" "F_ Me". On with the review: We ordered ice wine, Lamb, Seafood over pasta, and dessert The ice wine was a sign of things... More

The service was good however the food was horrible. We order different meals, however they were all covered with the same spices. Some of the food was cooked from frozen and all the food was overcooked, seafood and vegetables. I am from Montreal and I expect better than what I was served. Save your money for another restaurant.

My experience was exceptional. I arrived to the restaurant, not knowing they had already started to close up for the day. The owner was very gracious and insisted that I come in, have a seat anywhere, and have a meal. My meal was so delicious, never rushed, and I was given the most amazing personal service. Check out more of... More

After taking advantage of a Tuango deal, my wife and I decided to give this restaurant a shot. The menu looked great and the price was quite reasonable. Once we arrived, we found the decor a little tacky and... chaotic. It didn't seem to go together. Personally I couldn't care less as I'm there for the food. Our Tuango dinner... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
