Food was really good! We had no wait when we visited and service was very friendly. We were surprised there were not more people there but it was a Monday night. Burger was impressive and came with generous portion of fries. Mac and cheese was cooked properly and flavorful.

Mache is a very good place to eat french canadian classics such as the poutine or "Pâté chinois"! Good selection of draft beers to get along with the food, all of this at a very affordable budget! Definitely worth a visit!

Went on a weekday evening and the restaurant was almost full. The menu is very simple and consists mostly of fast food items with quality ingredients. The chicken soup was very simple. We unfortunately did not try any shepherd's pie (paté chinois) as we were on a hurry and were told that they have to be unfrozen. The hamburger steak... More

Break out of the tourist traps and try this restaurant for something a little more traditionally Montreal. Hidden in the UQAM neighbourhood, step down into this fun, casual, and lively hidden gem. Feel free to try the maple syrup sweetened pop or join in the alcoholic happy hour 4-7. Enjoy the ski chalet motive and cozy atmosphere. They specialise in... More

Host/waitress was really friendly. We told her we speak English and she encouraged us to try speaking French and helped us out with pronunciation. We came her for the classic Montreal poutine and pate chinois. Both were very good examples of the dishes. Decent beer selection as well and everything was priced right. I wish we could have spent more... More

The onion ring appetizers were very good. We both enjoyed variations of the Shepherd's Pie, especially the "New" style with leeks and mashed sweet potatoes.

All around perfect dinner! The food is great, the Sheppard's Pie & Pate Chinos a must for those of us not from the area. The atmosphere was great, relaxed but nice. The seating spaced appropriately and the décor not too fancy. Our waiter was cool, and the noise level just right. We got a good exchange, but I thought dinner... More

The three of us really enjoyed our meals. I had the P't V (French version of Shepherds Pie - made with ground beef, potatoes, corn and onions). Whatever herbs or spices they add make it taste oh so much better. Also enjoyed a tasty bowl of coleslaw with my meal. My two companions had the New Style dish, which differed... More

I had the house salad which was really incredible, I'd love to go back again for it! The soup was ok. My kids had the macaroni and cheese which was pretty good. My husband had the poutine which was good but not the best he's had. Fun neighborhood.

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
