After not having a bad meal in Montreal during our week-long stay, we cancelled our reservation at a top French place in the Old Town and decided to have something more fun. Portuguese food fit the bill and Douro had exactly the menu we were looking for with sardines, croquettes, caldo verde, and tons of fish and seafood choices. As fitting our last meal in Montreal, Restaurant Douro was the best meal and friendliest service we had in Montreal during our stay and we highly recommend it.
We started with a salad, caldo verde (both included with our mains), two perfectly-sized bacalao croquettes, and six garlic shrimp. We had a choice of three daily fish special: Icelandic cod, branzino, and Arctic char. My wife had the char and I had the cod, both elegantly and perfectly prepared. The Portuguese wine list is extensive and I was even recommended a new favorite!
It’s near Little Italy and out of the way from the usual tourist routes. While you could call it a neighborhood gem, it’s a big step up from that. Located a short, easy walk from the Beaubien metro station, it’s perfect for the special occasion, quiet business meal, date night, or for just excellent Portugese seafood and friendly service.

We did not know about this resturant during last year's visit to Montreal, but were so glad we discovered it this time.
The restaurant's appearance if very appealing, and the atmosphere quite relaxing.
The service was very good, with some excellent recommendations on wine.
The food is very authentic Portuguese, with a good variety of very fresh seafood.
If you are quite hungry, we thoroughly recommend the Arroz de marisco (seafood rice), which has lots of different seafood.
Espresso and digestif (Portugues eau de vie) were also very good.
We will definitely return here on our next trip to Montreal.

The place is very clean and the staff is very welcoming and warm.The food is excellent and the dishes are varied and the prices very affordable with a generous amount of food.
The service is impeccable and extremely kind.

Very slow service and the meat in the paella was raw… bloody. I told them and they told me that the paella doesnt cook the same time as the meat that’s why …… lol

I'm sorry to say that this restaurant was terrible. From the food to the service, I would not recommend it. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter to come over and take our drink and food order. We then received our meal with not drinks at all! We had to ask another waiter for our drinks. NEVER once did our original waiter come over and ask how our meal was. The portuguese steak had white muscle in it, it was horrible to try and cut into it.... I really felt unless you are a local, you do not get good service. Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this restaurant....

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Douro. We had the misto seafood tapas to start, followed by leek soup. As the main meal I had salted grilled cod and my husband had the fresh cod baked in the oven, both very tasty. Topped off the evening with the most heavenly dessert translated to English as heavenly cloud. While the price tag on this night out was pretty hefty, it was well worth it. I highly recommend it.

We went for a casual dinner and followed the waiter's recommendations.
The meal was excellent - stuffed calamari and the shrimp appetizer were cooked perfectly while the soup was delicious.

Been eating at Douro for years, it never disappoints. From the service to the quality of the food, there is not much to say other than excellent. Whether it's a quiet night out, a family or work event, the staff is accommodating and a pleasure to deal with.

Douro is consistently good, welcoming, authentic and reasonably priced. Every dish is delicious. The seafood tapas are incredibly tasty. We went there on Father's Day and ordered almost every one of them from the sardines, the grilled calamari, the big garlic shrimps (yum!), the octopus, grilled vegetables, the cod pasteis and to us the crown dish of the evening: tripes with white kidney beans in garlic tomato sauce. To die for. The best we ever had. Try the clams, the quails and the shrimp patties. Yummy. Douro's wine list is masterfully chosen, with top vinho verde bottles. Portuguese cuisine is always delicious at other Portuguese restaurants, but frankly none beats the one at Douro's.

We had dinner here, the seafood paella and seafood casserole was amazing. everyone who wants to eat the above mentioned dish, go to this restaurant. you will really like it alot.

Excellent Portuguese restaurant. Lots of atmosphere. Perfect for friends and family. Food is tasty, menu includes paella, chicken, seafood, cod, etc. The wine was marvelous. The service was perfect.

Douro has a great selection of food. Meals are perfectly balance. Been there several times and I wasn’t able to find a meal that wasn’t excellent. Service is impeccable. Waiters are friendly and attentive.

Just an awesome little place for an amazing meal. Great atmosphere, decor, excellent food. Douro will not disappoint you at all. The owner is out there, always making sure its all right. You might mistake him for a waiter. Worth the trip for sure.
