Excellent authentic Italian meals. Great selection and ambiance. Worth the wait to get in, but better reserve.

Stwfano is a famous owner in montreal and you can go to Impasto with a fair level of quality expectations. We have spend a good time but we found it a little high priced for quite simple dishes

We were very disappointed with the food. In particular, the porchetta was very very dry. We also had the linguine with clams as a starter and it was unremarkable. We chose these items because they were recommended by the server who was knowledgeable and attentive but kept trying to upsell us. I would not come back.

We went there based on the Gault Millau's recommendation... really disappointed! The pasta were way too Al dente, the lamb chops were overcooked limit burned ( they should ask Milo how they do it..)... on top of that the service was really poor borderline pompous. The design of the restaurant is really nice and that is probably what you are... More

My husband and I came across this quaint, authentic Italian restaurant while visiting Montreal. The owner has a fabulous chef, and the restaurant has a clean, modern style. We very much enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately our servers were arrogant and downright rude. The review was difficult as the food is a 5, the service a zero. I highly recommend this... More

We sat at the bar which was a lot of fun. The waiter was friendly and made great suggestions on food and wine. They made us a salad that wasn't on the menu, but should be! Then we had pasta, beef cheeks and quail. All very tasty. All in all an enjoyable dinner in little Italy.

I had a great meal at Impasto. We shared the burrata (made in Québec) with artichokes and celery. For main course, I had the margherite (pasta similar to ravioli) stuffed with mascarpone and peas, and served with fresh peas and tuscan sausage. The hand-made pastas were amazing. We shared a tiramisu for dessert, which was good, although not the best... More

Usually very hard to get into - book online at bookenda Porchetta Del nonno (translation: pork like nan made?) -first time, it was everything I love about food in one plate. Crispy, tender sweet and spicy - soft and perfectly cooked. Honey glaze with pear - its insanely good. They use a fennel seed for spice that goes perfect with... More

Classy Italian restaurant that was recommended by a friend. Don't go expecting pasta with red sauce. This is more fine dining-and did they hit it out of the park.

First of all, I just love the simple elegance of the place, but it isn't pretentious whatsoever. My favourite dish was the malfade with braised rabbit. Another hit was papardelle with lobster bisque. I found the porchetta a little dry and I was a bit disappointed to find no crackling on it. Otherwise, the service was great. Our server helped... More

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighbourhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
