Right across from the indoor Jean-Talon Market. This is a no-frills place which serves up excellent mexican food. We've always had great service and the prices are very reasonable. Their menu is varied and you can't go wrong no matter what you chose. In the summer months, they offer an outdoor terrace to their customers. They also sell varied imported... More

Service is ok, you really go there for the food tho! Authentic mexican food at a good price! Plus they sell a lot of condiments for you to try stuff at home.

A small unpretentious restaurant which serves some good Mexican at very reasonable prices. There is nothing fancy about this place, but they do get their basics right. The fajitas, quesadillas, the enchiladas or the guacamole, they all taste quite good. Service is friendly and a meal here won't burn a huge hole in your pocket. What's not to like ?

We found this place while walking around the Jean Talon Market in Montreal. My Wife wanted to have Mexican food and we certainly found a really good place. First, the waitress that we had was fantastic. Very sweet and attentive as well. Next, the food was authentic and very tasty. We paid $40 before tip and we got very full.... More

You will feel like you are in Mexico here. I felt very welcomed and the workers are very nice. Not only the food is incredible but it is very cheap. I got tacos al pastor( 4 tortillas with marinated porc and pineapple and my boyfriend got cochinita pibil ( both excellent). I have also tried carnitas a la Michoacana which... More

It seems the quality wen't down noticeably since our last visit; food is still mostly good, but when we got our orders our plates were almost lukewarm. Then for dessert the churros were not crispy, they felt like long sticks of donuts dough. We used to come all the way from the South Shore for El Rey, but I think... More

It was as authentic as it gets. Dirty awnings, market across the lane, random crowd of people, It was like being somewhere in Mexico. Delizioso !

I visited recently Montreal and I was amazed for the food and prices. I have tried different "Mexican" restaurants in Montreal, but this is authentic Mexican food, not "Tex-Mex". A must go for those looking for a real Mexican flavor.

Delicious taco' s, fresh, authentic, none of the commercial stuff! Great location - at the Jean Talon market. Perfect way to spend a lovely day. Shop around and have some delicious taco's, burrito's, whatever you fancy. Nice menu selection and the price is fantastic. Buy some take home Salsa (hot, mild) and chips and enjoy later.

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighbourhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
