Slick, stylish, atmospheric wine bar in a gorgeous cobblestone street in Old Montreal. Fabulous champagne list which did not disappoint (oh yes, some sparking wines available too). Just go. Early. Cancel your other dinner reservation first. Settle in with a champagne by the glass and start with the oysters. Book a table if you are going a little later in... More

My husband and I spent two nights in Montreal last week. I knew before we arrived I wanted to check out La Champagnerie as it was just up the street from our hotel. Our intent was to just go for a couple of drinks as we had dinner reservations elsewhere. It was a very quiet Tuesday night (in fact it... More

As the title suggests where do I begin?! I Must admit, I booked my trip to Montreal knowing that this restaurant was here, and it was something I was probably looking forward to the most, and it didn't disappoint at all! It was a very quiet Tuesday night, and I was the only one in there after about 9, but... More

Yes sound wild that a place would focus only on champagne, but it does and does so perfectly, the food was sublime, the vibe outstanding and what can I say about the champagne, we had 8 bottles, you can figure the end result....... Worth the price and worth going back.

What a great discovery! Stopped in for a few before dinner drinks and loved it. Bartender was informative and professional. Would definitely go again.

My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant based on the menu and photos from the website. We later found out it was Taste of Montreal the weekend we were in the city and they were a participating venue - thankfully! I emailed the week of our anticipated dinner for reservations and they emailed back within the hour to let me... More

Traveling with friends, we stopped into this cute little bar/restaurant to simply enjoy a glass of champagne from the large selection they had on the menu outside. It turned into one of our most fun afternoons! For the purchase price of one bottle, easily shared by 4, one of us had the opportunity to learn how to open the bottle... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
