Absolutely amazing “hidden” gem. It’s a little out of the way but honestly a must go if you go to Montreal. The food was amazing. For appetizer we got the caviar, my first time trying it and definitely worth it. We got the beef stroganoff...and the lamb. Both were cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. Plus very good portion sizes. For dessert we got the vodka sorbet and they gave us some complimentary ice cream to apologize for how long the wait for the food was (which was on top of the apology we received before the food came out). The service is really where they shine. The servers were so nice and attentive. This is definitely the kind of fancy restaurant where they switch out your table placement for each meal but they’re not the judgey type. We were dressed in casual wear and they were helpful making recommendations on the menu. The best part of course for me was the unlimited bread and butter. This is such a small thing but I’ve noticed restaurants moving away from the bread basket and the fresh bread was so good. It’s a small restaurant so would recommend a reservation especially if you are a larger party but cannot recommend this place enough. The prices were on the higher end for us, but honestly completely worth it. If you’re traveling on a budget I recommend this being the fancy dinner of the trip :)More

Four of us went there for lunch today and we were all extremely happy with the food and service. The portions were generous, the food was tasty (especially the Borscht soup), and the service was outstanding. The cost of the lunch menu was beyond reasonable....Thank you!More

I had lunch with a friend and enjoyed every bit of the experience. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Above all, the food was absolutely delectable and beautifully presented. From their homemade butter to their house breads and to the...main meal which we chose the soup followed by the fish of the day….fabulous !!More

We dined here this evening. I had the prix fixe menu and chose the Baltic salad to start. It was fresh and delicious and large! For my entree, I had fried perch. It came with a variety of perfectly prepared vegetables. The fish was superb!!...Then, I had to squeeze in dessert: 3 types of small cake slices, with whipped cream, raspberry coulis and garnished with dainty meringues. My friend had the chicken Kiev and was equally impressed with her dinner. Oh, and the meal was accompanied by a basket of varied warm, freshly baked breads. What a feast, from start to finish!! The lovely woman working (I don't know if she owns the restaurant) was attentive and delightful. Definitely make time for a dinner here!!More

Russian food. Wait staff attentive and knowledgeable. Lots of fresh bread before and during the meal. Dishes include lamb, beef, chicken fish, all done in traditional Russian styles. Several dessert options - the honey cake is spectacular.

I and my son tried several restaurants during a trip in Montreal and by far this one the best one. First of all the lady the serviced us was very kind to us and she had wonderful manners: the atmosphere was great, the restaurant was...very clean and the food was just amazing for a very reasonable price. We tried the tasting menu and it was just the best choice to sample many of the several delicatessens that they serve . We loved all if it and we highly recommend it.More

The food, service and atmosphere is is excellent. It is an elegant restaurant with pretty decor, lots of velvet drapery that fits with the Russian theme of this restaurant. Real linen napkins and nice glasses and cutlery add to it's elegant feel. The service is...perfect everything comes in a timely fashion and nothing is forgotten. The food is very good and I especially loved the "Solianka" soup and the "Medovik" cake. Go and enjoy especially if the live music is on.More

This is what I told the lady that is in front of the business. The service was as good as the food they offer. Service was very friendly and correct. We had been there for the first time long time ago, but we do not...live in Montreal so it had been a long time for our second visit.Shame we do not live in Montreal! We had a couple of appetizers (marinated mushrooms and avocado filled with shrimps) both were very tasty. We also had Beef Stroganoff and Chicken Kiev which were also very good. Portions reasonable, price more than reasonable.More

We were coming back from the St. Joseph Oratory looking for a place to eat. We noticed this restaurant, because it had a menu in the window with a 3 course lunch for a fixed, very reasonable price. We were seated and ordered the first...course, the soup. Two of us had borscht and 2 the other soup they had. The waitress (I think she was the owner) brought 3 borschts and 1 of the other soups. It took forever to get the 2nd soup. She came by several times to apologize. Not sure why it should take so long to get a bowl of soup, but literally, it was at least 15 minutes. The rest of the courses we had no problems with. At the end, she brought the gentleman who had to wait for his soup a peace offering, a bowl of fruit sorbet. I thought that was a nice gesture. The only negative, other than waiting for the soup for 15 minutes, was the price of the beer. We ordered the Russian beer and were surprised that it cost CD$9.50 for a bottle. That was a bit steep. However, with the price of the lunch being what it was, I can't really fault them for making it up with the price of the beer. One of our party is allergic to eggs and the owner was very careful to make sure that everything he ordered was good for him. Their bread was amazing and it was constantly refilled.More

We were looking for somewhere to have a late dinner after an unexpectedly long visit to Saint Joseph's Oratory. Unfamiliar with the neighborhood, we wanted a small, quiet place with cuisine we'd never tried before. After scouring online reviews we settled on Ermitage and we...are so glad we did! We had the tasting menu, which was perfect, and our hostess (who I think was one of the owners) was an absolute delight. The restaurant interior is charming and cozy, and the food was unlike anything we'd ever had; everything homemade, very tasty and filling and presented with great care and attention. Highly recommended!More
