Being from Los Angeles which is also known as Tehrangeles due its large population of Iranians, I have been to lots of great Persian Restaurants, so five star does not come so easy. I went to Amu Jan mid day, it was not crowded. The...name means Dear or Sweet Uncle, and endearing word in Farsi. The menu was adequate and the food was good. I enjoyed my first Persian mean in a month. I had the Zereshg Polo with Chicken. Zereshg is Barberrys which are not a common item in US markets. It is a cross between Cranberries (sourish and red) and tinier like raisins. It adds a great flavor to Basmati Rice served in good Persian Restaurants.More

It was a really pleasant experience having a good quality and delicious iranian cuisine with family. The master is a real gentleman and there is a friendly and cosy place. Every bidy can rest here and have a lovely persian food. Strongly recommend for all.

I went to Amu Jamal on St-Jean, my mom was out of town and I was crazy home cooked food, called to make sure they were open and too see what was the dish of the day. A nice lady informed me it was Khoreshte...Gheyme Bademjoon (eggplant with split bean stew). So ended up going. I have been there before and usually its pretty decent food. Unfortunately not this time. Usually when they say its the dish of the day you think it is made fresh right? WRONG. Not in this case. There was more oil than anything else, and when the oil kinda sticks in your mouth you this was not made fresh. Also, the split peas were too hard. I like their other foods like ash, and brains but I will pass on their "home cooked meals"More

I had heard a lot about this place amongst the Persian community here in Montreal, but never really got a chance to try until now. It's a small cute place. The staff was very nice and accommodating, I told her it was my first time...here so she placed special attention. They basically have everything Persian you can imagine, from kookoo sabzi (fried herb cake), tongue, brains, abgoosht to kabab, different types of Persian stew with rice. Everything was tasty and fresh, but most surprising of all was the price, very very affordable, basically you're paying for a Focus but you're getting a Mercedes. I will be going back very soon. If you're in the area try it.More
