I visited with my partner, we were seated at the bar. It was a busy Sunday early evening, busier than I imagined to be frank. The wine was terrific, big reds from California and France. The service most attentive. Staff appeared when you needed them, were interested to explain the meal/ wine/ resto. Seeing the kitchen in furious action was... More

You must go for the Foie Gras on everything. We chose to go with the Au Pied de Cochon special Pig Leg with Foie. Crazy great but plan on getting just that. I'd say it feeds 4. And finish with the Sugar Pie. It's amazing and we hear the best one around! Make sure to reserve well in advance. This... More

I've been to Pied de Cochon several times, and it's still a temple of excess. This time we had the plateau de charcuterie, which seems to be new and makes a full dinner for two. It's definitely on the fatty side, even for charcuterie: coppa, bacon, sausage, and head cheese presented on a half pig's skull, and topped with a... More

If you don't like pork or foie gras, then avoid this place. If you do, then this place is a MUST. Foie gras is in most dishes and the combo is heavenly. The Duck in a can is a famous dish which I found tasty but wished the fat on the duck breast had been rendered a little more. The... More

I remember watching the episode where Anthony Bourdain visited this restaurant and thinking to myself that I would visit here if ever in Montreal. As soon as I found out that I was attending a business conference in Montreal, I immediately emailed the restaurant for a reservation. Within 24 hours I received a confirmation and I anxiously counted down the... More

We went for the foie gras and were not disappointed..Had six differant type of fois gras and each one of them was amazingly cooked. This is a must visit place in Montreal if you are a foodie....Everything we tasted was great. The server on the other hand spoiled our dinner by forcing us to get an extra entree saying the... More

10 of us had a memorable meal at Au Pied De Cochon on Friday night. We sat in the way back and even my hard-of-hearing Step-father was able to enjoy the conversation. We ordered with the idea that we would share most of the dishes and found that we all got a chance to sample many dishes and had ample... More

Pied is a totally unique dining experience in the best possible way. The menu is eccentric and they make no excuses....this is what they offer and it's the best in their category. Staff was delightful, food was outrageous, cliental is a diverse, interesting assembly that creates a lively, fun dining experience. I liked going to a restaurant that has such... More

We were told to visit the restaurant and the hype was huge but unfortunately for me, once I got there it was just ok. First of all some weird facts: the restaurant doesn't offer a coat rack so I have to keep my huge coat in my lap while eating and doesn't offer wifi. I thought it was very weird... More

We relied totally on our server to walk us through this menu. He recommended we have 2 appetizers (prosciutto in maple syrup with an amazing bread and foi gros and a main course (a pork dish that was baked all night) that we split. His wine recommendation was superb. Dinner was extremely rich so no dessert was required.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
