My wife and I rang in 2024 at JF with the it’s New Years Eve 12 course dinner. One word - Fabulous. The ambiance was great (live instrumentals, nicely decorated) the wait staff was attentive. Nicholas, our server, made sure that my wife was provided...an alternative menu given her shellfish allergy. We welcomed the new year with a Dom Perigbon toast. I highly recommend JF!!!More

One night in Montreal, traveling for business. This place was on the other side of the street. “What the hack!”. All by myself, I want to indulge the experience! First floor of a glass building, restaurant and a brasserie. They are very clear since the...beginning about their prices, and I appreciate it. Brasserie fully booked, ok for the restaurant. 9 courses for 185 CND$. I tried not to think about what I’d being to see in Africa and I sat at the table. Outstanding service! I started with onion soup, served into a real onion, very tasty. Then one (1) sage chip, good. After my carpaccio (I think it was!), power went off in the building! Light from the road filter throu the glass window, not a bad ambiance, after all. But the restaurant wasn’t operative. After a while customers started to leave. I stayed. Suddenly, power turned back. Waiters started to buzz back around, but…they forgot about me! So I asked for check, and they made me pay only a small amount. I maybe will come back, if I’d have the chance! My suggestion is to try. As I said, you only live once!More

Long review… Food and the set menu experience is probably 4.8/5. Will talk about it in the second part of the review. First, reason why I’m frustrated and giving it 1 star only… When I go to a “fancy” restaurant, one of the minimal expectations...is that you get the bill right. You make a mistake, no problem, you fix it, everyone makes mistake. But then you tell me you can’t fix the error and instead, offer me an alternative. If you truly respect your customers, this alternative should be >= the error you made. Which is not the case here. Here is the rant. It was dinner for 2. We both ordered a glass of champagne/wine to start. Then I ordered the 4 glasses wine pairing (prestige bundle). We were happy with the meal, everything’s good. Then they started serving desserts, and someone came with a loaded cart of different alcohol selections. At this point, I only had 3 glasses of wine from the pairing/bundle, so I thought, the last one of the four pairings, for the dessert, I get to pair whatever I want by myself, and I ordered a brandy. Bill came, I took a look, the total was reasonable, so I was about to pay. Then the server came back and said he made an error and needed to re-run the bill. He brought the new bill, of course now I wanted to take a closer look. They charged for the 4 glasses wine pairing, and charged for our starter champagne/wine x 2, and charged for the brandy I got. So I told the server there is a mistake, if you charging me separately for the brandy, then I only had 3 glasses of wine from the pairing/bundle. He said he will look into it, and came back and admitted that they made a mistake, but he “can’t change” the wine pairing to the 3 glasses wine pairing bundle (which is $75 instead of $125 for the 4 glasses pairing), “unless I choose to talk to the manager about it”. Alternatively, he took off one of our starter wine from the bill, which is some where between $20 and $30. I admit, I was weak, I didn’t want to argue this after a special meal with my partner which we both enjoyed. But it turns out, I am still very frustrated two days after the meal, hence this long review. Yes, it’s not even $30, but hey, this is also just one out of the hundreds of reviews posted… You admitted you made a mistake, and assuming you know your menu (which you should), you know you are over charging me for $50. You removed a $20 item from the bill and basically told me that my options are either take it or it will get complicated cause I now need to talk to the manager? In any decent restaurant that respect their customer, the manager should already be at the table apologizing for the mistake. Apology if my expectation is high when I go to a place and paying more than $100 in tips… or am I supposed to be grateful that you didn’t remove the tea from my bill as compensation instead, which is only $10? If you got this far, or simply skipped my rant above, the food itself is amazing. And I loved the theme. “The Chalet” is very creative, loved it. One of the desserts definitely can bring out the kid in you. So I guess that also means it may not be for everyone. But even if you didn’t enjoy the theme, the food is amazing. The lobster cappuccino sounds SOOO weird, but tastes great. And the venison’s cooked perfectly. Minus 0.1 cause the desserts are too sweet for my liking. And minus 0.1 cause the first few dishes felt a bit rushed. Thank you for reading.More

I feel compelled to share my recent experience at a once-beloved restaurant. The food remains exceptional, as it always has been. However, I must confess that this establishment has undergone quite a transformation since my last visits. To my astonishment, as the dinner drew to...a close, I found myself dining in close proximity to what appeared to be a group of scouting escorts. It is truly disheartening to see that this place seems to have lost control over the prestigious selection of their guests. The experience truly left both me and my companions feeling incredibly uncomfortable. The ambiance that once exuded elegance and sophistication has been tarnished by this recent encounter. It's truly a shame to witness such a decline in standards. As a result, I can no longer endorse this restaurant as a suitable venue for a special occasion dinner with your spouse. I understand that every establishment goes through changes, yet this particular establishment seems to have taken a wrong turn. It is crucial to maintain a specific level of decorum, dignity and regard for all guests and, it is imperative to openly share our experiences honestly, so others can make informed decisions. I sincerely hope that the management takes heed of this feedback and implements necessary measures to rectify the dress code, ensuring a refined atmosphere at Jerome Ferrer Restaurant Europea, a dining establishment that prides itself on its prestigious reputation. Until then, it is strongly suggested to reconsider choosing this venue for your upcoming special occasion. Numerous alternative options are available that can offer a significantly more comfortable and enjoyable high-end dining experience.More

The food is spectacular, the service, because of the sequels of COVID (less people willing to work in restaurants) was extremely slow...we appreciated the fact that the chef accepted to make his signature onion soup even if it was not on the week's menu and...required more work for the serving staff...it was stupendous.More

Overall fantastic experience with great service. Each course was wonderful. There were a few delays in the timing of things, but they apologized and gave us a bottle of lobster oil to take home. It was also quite warm in the dining room. We added...many of their signature drinks which were well worth it! The fois gras course was excellent, as were many of the dessert courses.More

Words can not describe this restaurant. The food is amazing but what puts it over the top of course is the food art experience. All the different flavors that we tried with each course was absolutely delicious. It was nice to try foods out of...my comfort zone and they were all truly wonderful. We loved the hidden door experience. The drinks, especially the old fashioned was delicious. Everyone should try this experience. It is truly a memorable event. I have way too many pictures to share. . TRULY AMAZING!!More

Perhaps Europea (Beaver Hall) is resting on its history, but the food was unexceptional, just ok. And the atmosphere was unnecessarily formal and even condescending, a bit pretend even. The Caesar salad was gloppy and average. Entrees were boring versions of standards. There are far...better choices in Montreal for French fine dining. Definitely will not be back.More

Score we made the reservation we called to see if there were vegan options. They assured us there were. This is two restaurants in one. The upstairs had a tasting menu of 8 or 10 courses. The apologized when asked about vegan option and we...were told,”oops”. They were French and everything was cooked in butter. We went downstairs were we could order a la carte. My husband ordered scallops on risotto. Scallops were good, the risotto was so rich he could not eat it. I had a small side salad a a side of ratatouille. I will not go back. Had they been honest on the phone we would have tried somewhere else.More

I want to say an unwritten rule to dress well, as to be too casual will make one feel out of place. So dressy casual works, a sharp pair of jeans could work with a dress shirt for men. Women were dressed in nice dresses and... More
