Came here with a friend that likes Caribbean food. She had wanted to try their Acke and salt fish since this summer's Caribbean Festival in the old port, they made her wait for 2 hours, promising that it was on it's way from their downtown restaurant. For some reason if they were to cook it on the spot it could... More

Oxtail is my favourite Caribbean dish. The flavours at this establishment are amazing!! The dining room is simple and small. Never had a problem getting seating. They also deliver. Sooo good!

First time visiting this place and if your looking for authentic Caribbean food, this is where its at. I dined-in and had an ackee and saltfish rice and peas. And for dessert Mango cheesecake. Everything was so good a couple days later I came back and had a take-out veggie stir-fry with plantain. The atmosphere, decor and music is nice... More

Surprisingly, Mango Bay offers more vegetarian options than I expected. My guest and I both ordered vegetarian patties (which had a nice amount of spicy heat to them) along with a main dish of vegetarian rotie (generously filled with a tasty curry). The price was right and the dining room was quite nice. Service could have been a little more... More

Family of 6 visiting Montreal from Calgary and Toronto. This place is not easy to spot from the outside and getting there involved a lot of stairs. The curry chicken roti was good, well portioned and flavorful. My 12 year old had the jerk chicken burger and she loved it. My husband and daughter had the jerk chicken dinner and... More

We were holiday in Montreal & were surprised to see a Caribbean restaurant so thought we would try it. Not so easy to find, it's next to a number of their restaurants and on the first floor, but were so pleased once we finally sat down to eat. The service from the waitress was steady and attentive and our meals... More

Had a Saturday night dinner here and everything was perfect. The hostess was able to answer all out questions, easily in english and french. The atmosphere was so rich and well maintained. We (the group of us) had jerk chicken, oxtail, mango chicken and curried goat and were all thrilled. Each meal comes with a selection of rice, plantain and... More

Excellent food. Chicken Roti was very delicious. Curry was perfect. This place isn't easy to spot. Even when you are looking for it, it isn't easy. You have to go up stairs. It's a simple place with great Caribbean food.

I used Foodora.ca for delivery service. That is for a separate review. This is strictly about the food. Ordered the Salmon with a side of white rice. The rice was excellent. There was a sauce from the salmon that was covering half of the rice. Very tasty. The salmon? Not so good. First of all, it still had a lot... More

Great location inside someones former home. We had a table in the livingroom near the fireplace and loved the feel of the place. Be warned! Service is suitable slow for Island food! The wait however is worth it. All three in my party agree, best curry roti chicken ever. Perfect tender chicken and potato, incredible spicing and flavours, and just... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
