We dined at Restaurant Café Saigon on the later side (9:30 pm). There were many vegetarian options, and the dinner I ordered was tasty (tofu ginger stir-fry). It came with salad and noodles or rice. My boyfriend enjoyed his dumplings. The servers were friendly and helpful. There was a large table of friends drinking wine and another table with small children, and we enjoyed being there as a couple, so it seemed like a good atmosphere for everyone.

Dear wise traveler, Café Saigon is a varied Asian cuisine. The menu offers different dishes at reasonable, decent prices. The food is correct, nothing more; it lacks a little taste. The service is well provided, in a polite and kind manner. Payment must be go in cash, or debit card; no credit card is accepted. Guests can bring their wine, this is an interesting asset considering the high price of wine served in restaurants. The place is likely to be noisy; the evening I was there, there were three (3) ladies who were not speaking, shouting. You have to choose your table carefully considering the fact that the noises are amplified according to the chosen place. Despite you, it is a recommendation. I recommend the choice of vegetables and seafood dishes and it seems that the dish “General Tao” is a specialty.

This place was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel. We came in, were seated and noticed that everyone brought their own wine. Asked the waitress and she sent us to a store around the corner to get ours. The restaurant doesn't charge any corkage fee, but they provide an ice bucket, glasses and open the wine for you. Very impressive. The food was excellent and the owner came by to talk to us and recommended other restaurants for us to try while we were in town.

What an execrable evening! When we arrived, the restaurant was crowded, but we had a reservation. We were seated at a table where water in old wine bottles had already been on the table for quite a while... Lots of waiting for the order and when we finally came to see us, the waitress who seemed completely inexperienced and overwhelmed despite her very advanced age, tells us that she will need our first name to take orders, because otherwise she won't be able to find her way. As we give our choices she tells us that there is no more chicken. So, no chicken skewers and no possible combos with chicken! It's a Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and there's no more chicken in an Asian restaurant... For every question asked, the waitress has to go back to the owner to find out what's left and what can be ordered. We end up ordering. At the service, the waitress no longer knows what to serve to whom and she is all mixed up with the first names. The food is tasteless. The Pad Thai is too tomatoy and sweet. All the dishes are lukewarm and ordinary: a disappointment! The waitress is so overwhelmed that the owner ends up taking over. It runs better, but it doesn't fix anything... He offers us a fried banana for dessert to compensate for the mess. Too little, too late. Overrated reputation of the restaurant. We do not recommend it to anyone! No fun!

We just left this restaurant. The service is non-existent. I ordered a slightly spicy pad Thai. I could only eat 3 butchers because it stung! We told the waiter but nothing was done. Once at checkout not even a gesture emits after seeing the plate return full. Too bad the flavors were good but no customer attention. 20 dollars thrown away

This is a lovely local place. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we tried particularly the breaded shrimps and the chicken spring rolls. We took our own wine - as most people do - there is a good wine shop on the main street just around the corner. All the staff are delightful and helpful. Gets busy so go early or book.

We had dinner here the first night we arrived in Montreal. It was a convenient location to our Airbnb, just a block and a half walk. Definitely a local favorite with many of the patrons being from the neighborhood. It seemed like everybody knew everybody. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the service and food were very good. One drawback is they have no beer wine or liquor, but on the upside you can bring your own bottle of wine to have with your dinner.

Equipped with a good bottle of ice cold white wine, we discovered this hidden place just off Rue Sainte-Catherine in ‚the village‘ area of Montreal. Nothing fancy but with excellent food, well cooked and reasonably sized. Highly recommendable are the very crispy chicken spring rolls well as the ‚General Tao‘ main course, available with beef, pork or chicken.

My first try of Vietnamese food was a good experience. Predominantly french speaking, good service if a little slow to begin with due to being busy. Good choice of fresh food cooked to order and nicely presented. A popular place

Arrived into Montreal late in the evening, booked into our hotel, and walked across the road to the Cafe Saigon for a late supper. What a great little find. A lively atmosphere, staff were super friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. A great start to our weekend in Montreal.

Food was ok - but annoying that no credit cards are accepted. They have a cash machine in the restaurant - which provides happily cash for a fee. No real reason to go back.

Hands down one of the best red curries I have ever had. The portions are on the smaller side -- wouldn't recommend it if you are absolutely starving. The reason for my lower score is that service could do with a bit of work. My server was trying to usher me out of the restaurant before I had even eaten. She also insisted on speaking to me in French every time she came to check on me even though I apologized and made it clear from the beginning that my French was very basic. As an Aussie in Montreal, this was one of my fears and it came true at this restaurant.

Found this place on TA. Amazing! Bring your own wine. Service was amazing such lovely and friendly staff. They brought out a few freebies to taste as well! Spring rolls and mains were so good felt like being back in Vietnam. Really good price too.

We went for a diner, it’s really close to my work and never see peoples going inside. So I was a bit suspicious about the place, but when we open the door the place was actually crowded! We didn’t wait long for a table but it was really noisy. The food is really good and the taste it’s authentic ( I was few months ago in Vietnam so I know what I’m taking about ) and the prices are cheap. I recommend this place for a good lunch or diner with friends! The staff is friendly and try theirs best !

I had the chicken red curry with coconut milk and lemongrass. The flavors were amazing. Way too spicy for my liking but I survived. We even got a little sample of general tao which I also loved. Honestly everything was so tasty and flavorful. We got there at 6, good thing because by 7:30 the place was packed. The service was very good, quick and the waiter was helpful with the questions we had about the menu. The only bad thing was the noise level and the cash only.
