Came here the other day with my boyfriend. We both had the combo which consists of home fries, lamb chops and 1/4 chicken. The food was very tasty. The bbq sauce that they offer with the chicken can be a bit spicy so beware. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, not to noisy so conversation is easy. Service... More

Portuguese chicken and fish. Cooked for a long time, well marinated, good roasted potatoes. Service is ok, look of the place is ok but the chicken and sardines are very good!

I've been coming here once in awhile for years when in Montreal. It's decent. I no longer eat meat. When I did, I liked the chicken. I love the bread. The dessert was good. The people who run the place and work there are very nice. I like the vibe. I went again last week. I had Dorade. It wasn't... More

We have been going to Jano for a long time and it has become one of our favorite places to eat of St Laurent. You get a lot of food (olives, bread, salad comes with the meal) for a very good price. Our favorite option is the grilled chicken with their amazing spicy sauce, tender and great flavor! However, our... More

We went a to jano's and we were 4 adults and 4 teens. The calamari is very small portion, the chaurico is good. And the grilled chicken is Ok. I haden't been in a long time and I was Ok. I would probably not go back.

I'll be quite honest to start, I haven't been to most of the best so called portuguese restaurants in montreal, so some might say l can't really be one to judge. I know good food and I know that what I like others will enjoy as well. janos is for me excellent as I've been there atleast 15 times and... More

We enjoyed our grilled chicken and the sardine dish, both served with some really nice French fries and a fresh green salad. The service was polite and quick and the atmosphere pleasant. It was a nice place to have a simple unpretentious and inexpensive meal. I just wished I had realized that the dessert menu included Natas, little Portuguese custard... More

We came across this restaurant while strolling down St Laurent, and there was one table available, so we grabbed it. The food is fresh, authentic, well cooked and seasoned, and delicious. The service is very friendly and accommodating. We had a great meal here.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
