A lovely lunch was served by Nino to two weary travellers after we mushed through the snow from the Musée des beaux-arts. We were served hearty servings of coq au vin and steak frites. The braised leek salad and mushroom soup were perfect appetizers. Everything was delicious and nourishing and we enjoyed our tea, conversation with Nino and the cook,... More

My wife and I have recently moved to Montreal from Calgary and we were looking for a place to have a meal and some wine on a cold, Saturday winter night. We went to L'autre Saison for the first time and it will not be the last. Everything from the decor to to the food and service, thank you Dino,... More

We have been coming to l'Autre Saison for many years. My wife was raised and lived most of her life in Montreal, and she recommended it for one of our first dates. It is a beautiful, elegant dining room, very understated but very well appointed. The service is like all great restaurants, attentive without being intrusive. The food is natural,... More

This is a small and charming establishment on the Crescent road. We had lunch here and ordered the mushroom soup, the duck salad, and the escargot with pastry. All the dishes were very good. The waiter was experienced and very friendly. The dining room was beautifully decorated. I highly recommend this place when you visit Rue Crescent.

It is difficult for restaurants to compete in the Montreal and many good one last less than a year or two, but this restaurant stands out as having been one of Montreal's finest for over 40 year: that is truly exceptional. The cuisine is traditional Montreal-style French and the atmosphere is classic for Quebec fine dining - PLUS - the... More

The food and the service at L'Autre Saison is beyond compare. My wife had duck and I had rabbit, both exquisitely prepared and in "just right" serving sizes. Nino, our host, waiter, and maître d', was superb. That he and I were both goaltenders in our hockey-playing days only added to the feeling that we were with family. Quality of... More

After touring the galleries of Le Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, we strolled several blocks down the sunny rue Crescent and discovered the outdoor seating area for L’Autre Saison. A quick review of the posted lunch menu in combination with the inviting street setting prompted our request for a table. We were warmly greeted by a professional wait staff that... More

We happened to find this restaurant while visiting Montreal for the night. The food was delicious, and the service was incredible. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly. We really liked talking to our waiter, he was very interpersonal and fun. The atmosphere was upscale and the entire interior is ornately decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would... We went last night and the place was empty. We ordered and soon after we started to smell cigarette smoke. Sure enough.....a man at the bar whom we think was one of the owners was smoking!!! Montreal has a no smoking policy in restaurants, bars, and even on outside terraces of restaurants/bars. I am a cancer patient and cannot be... More

I looked into the matter as I had been absent and must say that I am asthmatic , do not smoke and strictly enforce a non- smoking policy and I have done so prior to the enactment of the legislation. On a few occasions and as happens in any restaurant we have been confronted by patrons taking out an electronic... More

Wanted a light bite to eat before we went to the nearby museum, just happened upon this spot.. The waiter was very welcoming and accommodating. We liked the menu choices very much and the prices were reasonable for us. The pate was beautifully presented and the rolls hot and crusty..we ordered a nice light dry bottle of wine....after deciding to... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
