I concur with the previous 5 star reviews! It's difficult to find anything more to add. The food is superb. The service was fabulous. The music rounded out a truly special dining experience. We had only one evening in Montreal and I don't think we could have made a better choice for dinner.

We had dinner at Modavie twice over a 5 night stay. Both times were splendid. We enjoyed the bar service downstairs, followed by dinner with music upstairs. The service was friendly and attentive. The food and drink were freshly prepared, fairly priced, and delicious. Our first night we had reservations, our second night we did not. If you're having a... More

Our dinner at Modavie was a wonderful experience. Great food, live Jazz music, perfect atmosphere and our server was FANTASTIC. It was one of the best service experiences I've ever enjoyed. And the black truffle mayo was TO DIE FOR. Fantastic all around!

We celebrated our wedding last Saturday at Montreal Courthouse. We chose Modavie to have lunch just after the ceremony at the Courthouse with our family and friends, due to the location, steps away from the Courthouse, in the heart of Montreal Old Port, and the great reviews we found on Tripadvisor. We booked a room for our party weeks before... More

Recently visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner with my wife while we were in Montreal. It is located in Old Montreal on a cobblestone road and is a great place for a quiet romantic dinner. We chose to sit in the area with the blues trio. The food, service and atmosphere did not disappoint. If you did not wish... More

Fantastic service! Lorenzo took us back to a time when dining was more than just satisfying hunger and about appreciating good company and great music. His fabulous service and keen ability to ascertain our needs, topped off an evening of fabulous food, great service, and delicious wine. Combined with a spectacular ambience, what more could one want--highly recommend if you... More

We are visiting family in Montreal and this was recommended to us. Greeted by Lorenzo who directed us to a very nice table close to the music and fireplace. Iman was our waitress who was attentive but not overly. She recommended several dishes and wine and we were very pleased with everything. The Strip Steak was very flavorful and the... More

My husband's favorite meal in Montreal. The French onion soup is spot on, Caesar salad was delicious. My husband love his lamb chops, while I'd say my filet mignon was very good. Desserts of tiramisu and tart tatin also terrific. Service was phenomenal!

Had the duck confit with wild mushroom which is inherently on the heavier side. Stopped in for an early dinner. Service was nice, food was good, energy/decor/vibe was cool.

Description
Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
