First experience with Bis. Wonderful ambiance, enoyably noisy. Although the menu was relatively limited compared to other restaurants, it was varied and interesting. It offered traditional Italian dishes and some totally unexpected dishes that, combined with daily specials, presented many options. Good wine selection. Our courses were served in a timely and unhurried manner by friendly and professional staff. Enjoyed... More

I had the Ach fish - fantastic flavor and seasoning. Cooked perfectly and paired with pasta and red sauce. Also had the tuna tartar appetizer - this was great too - had some mango mixed in which was nice but not too sweet. Service was great and very friendly. Others in our group seemed pleased with their selections too. I'd... More

We asked the concierge for a fine Italian restaurant and he booked us at Bis. The food was delicious. Marcello and his staff were welcoming and attentive. My husband thought the "Italian Sushi" was fresh and delicious as well as the rack of lamb and veal osso bucco (no knife needed). Can't wait to go back!!!

The concierge at our hotel had recommended this restaurant. We have been to some great Italian restaurants in Montreal and had never heard of this one. We went with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised at how great it was. From the food (they will prepare pasta anyway you want it), to the personal service we received from our waiter... My mom turned 87 and we wanted to treat her to an excellent meal and service. That's exactly what we got from the coat check lady, waiters and managing personnel. All were so kind and attentive making sure she was enjoying herself. I had the varied appetizers and tuna as a main meal. It was melt in your mouth delicious!... More

Small & narrow restaurant. The waitress kept bumping into our table while servicing the patrons next to us. Menu & wine selection were very good. The food quality & taste were very good. But, overall, imo, too pricey. Been there once, not again.

We dined here on New Year's Eve and found the service to be impeccable. The restaurant design and decor was authentic and we felt like we were dining in Florence. The seafood was fresh and the vegetarian entree was decent.

The ambiance and service was excellent. The food could have been better. The pasta was mediocre. The maitre d was outstanding and accommodating to our needs. Very warm and welcoming. Pasta dishes were mediocre.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
