We lined up for almost 45 minutes in the freezing temperature. Still, we all thought that it was totally worth it! The waiters were friendly and patient, even though my friends and I spent a lot of time discussing what we should order. Aside from...the classic smoked meat sandwich, I highly recommend poutine à la Schwartz's. Although poutine is pretty common in Montreal and we had had plenty of poutine during our trip in Montreal, the French fries, cheese curds, gravy, and smoked meat tasted so good when we ate them together. My friend even ordered one more for takeout. We will definitely revisit if we are in Montreal again.More

I have seen in tasteatlas that this place is part of the 150 legendary resto in the world, (no. 58 to be exact but their staff insisted they are no. 1 in the world)so i got to try when i have the chance to go...to montreal. The smoked beef and poutine was good! Not so good for my taste but it was so tender! The service was also excellent that u know their crew have been working the place for so long they know how to handle. The place is cramped that spacing between tables is tight but the vibes is good, u can see the articles they are featured on their walls which is a fantastic way to boast their good name. Street parking only, find your own spot. They accept credit/debit. No high chairsMore

What a delicious sandwich. Here is a trick, order from the take out side of the restaurant and they have a few tables as you will otherwise wait in a very long line. So glad we went here!

I am a local and I personally think this is very overrated. I’ve had way better smoked meat in the city. It was very dry even if we added mustard and pickles. The restaurant is small you have no choice but to sit next to...other people sharing the same table. The line is usually 15 minutes long.More

The wait was worth it. Huge Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Had to wait less than 15min(short relatively speaking). Seating is tight to fit all in. Service was quick and delightful. Great price for the size of sandwich. Olives not worth it.

I live in NYC. My go to pastrami is Katz’s . Was this close? No at all. Crumbly and rather dry, meaning little fat to provide juiciness. There was virtually no wait and I sat right at the counter. Sandwich is $14 CAD which in...fairness is cheap compared to $30 USD one at Katz. I guess I was annoyed by $3 super heavy brined pickle upcharge which was not disclaimed. Around $20 all in and I was still hungryMore

Simply an amazing corned beef (smoked meat in their lingo) sandwich. Poutine was great too - topped with more smoked meat. Staff was very friendly. Menu is pretty limited and was different from a traditional NYC jewish style deli. Rye was fresh, pickles were great,...cole slaw was vinegar (not mayo) based. Different deli experience from NY but well worth it. Restaurant is small and not much decor-wise aside from pics of celebs and magazines talking about the place. Table seating and counter seating. Next door is a take-out.More

Really worth the visit and be sure to try the slaw as well. Cherry soda helps cut the grease and is a perfect accompaniment. You can go to the take out counter and eat at the counter in back to avoid waiting for a table...next door.More

Stopped by for lunch during our visit to Montréal - my recommendation is to arrive early because when we arrived just after 12 there was no queue but by the time we left the queue outside was huge! Schwartz's offers a simple menu and service...is fast, expect to have ordered and have your meal on the table within minutes. Portions were substantial without going overboard and were delicious, although I would say this isn't the place to visit if you're not a fan of meat. The restaurant has so much history and brings in diners not just from Montréal but around the world. Would definitely recommend!More

Not worth the money. Too salty for my taste! Worst french fries ever! Long line up but food was the lowest quality I've ever experienced!

wow! what an experience. I think everyone needs to go here. A place where you share tables, the menu is short and precise, not a lot of add ons but I guess most people are just here for the smoked meat! I had a turkey...sandwich and I think I could of made two sandwiches from it there was so much meat! don't expect any add-ons, it's literally turkey and bread and you add the mustard at the table! The rest of the group got the smoked meat. My hubby now does not want to eat any other smoked meat but Schwartz! When we arrived around 11 am and when we left, there was a line up out the door waiting for seats.More

We picked up 2 “smoked meat “ corned beef carry out for lunch as the restaurant was very busy. I have had Jewish Deli food in NY, Detroit, Chicago and up and down the West Coast. We were very disappointed with the taste of the...corned beef and rye bread. It resembled canned corned beef. Truely felt cheated 😾More

We arrived at about 11:30 and there was a queue of about 15 people. Our wait was less than 15minutes for a table for 5. Our waitress was a rockstar, I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She explained the in's and out's of the...menu and we ordered accordingly. 3 sandwiches and 1 plate of just meat, pickles, fries and DEFINETELY try the cherry soda! It was the perfect amount for all of us. We found the meat to be juicy and fall apart tender. A splash of yellow mustard was a good touch but not necessary. We didn't feel rushed to leave and the queue outside was at least 30 deep when we left. Our waitress also made a fab recommendation to visit DinetteTriple Crown for their signature Arnold Palmer. It was absolutely worth the walk from Schwartz that we even contemplated seconds.More

If you like Montreal Smoked Meat you MUST go here. There is a reason why Schwartz's is a Montreal institution for over 90 years. They have perfected the art of a delicious dish. The restaurant is small and there is always a lineup outside. The...lineup in the picture is at 10:30am. Don't despair, it moves fairly quickly and the wait is absolutely worth the time. Did I mention that it is drool worthy delicious? If you like it and have the opportunity to take some home for later, let your server know, they'll help you out.More
