This charming cafe is run by an amazing staff who are more knowledgable about cats than any other persons I have ever met. The cafe itself is homey and comfortable and is home to a wide array of cats. The older ones are full time residents and the kittens are carefully matched to screened applicants when they are 3 months or older. Meanwhile, you get to sit and enjoy good food and drink while engaging in purr therapy! We spent a chunck of our Sunday morning in Montreal just enjoying these wonderful new friends

Fun atmosphere, friendly staff who spoke both English and French, and delicious food! The food was a little on the pricey side, but I would highly recommend the pouding aux bananes--it was incredibly light and flavorful! The cats were sweet but mainly stayed away from customers. It seemed that a few cats regularly hung around the register, so you may have a chance to pet those cats if you don't see any others.
If visiting in the winter when it's snowy, be prepared to take off your winter boots and potentially get your socks wet when transitioning from the vestibule to the cafe. I only saw one person walking around inside with slippers, and everyone else was walking around in their socks, so it did not seem like the cafe provides disposable slippers. I suggest bringing a change of socks or your own slippers. If you do not want to leave your boots in the vestibule by the door, you are allowed to put them in a bin and taken them inside with you. Note that during the busy lunch time when we visited, we had to wait for about 15-20 minutes to enter the cafe, and the vestibule was cramped, cold, and had 1 chair.

Perhaps the menu is a bit pricey but the experience makes it worth it. Dine among adorable felines that allow you to share their space. There are some playful kitties to interact with and the staff were kind and attentive. If you're a cat lover - this is a must-do while in Montreal.

The place was disappointing . The food was expensive for no reason, it did not even taste good; it was soo bland. The lemonade looked like soap water. A cheese cake For 7$ I expected to be at least decent it wasn’t: jello butter with no taste. It wasn’t even 2 inch wide; really small proportion. I was glad they ran out of it or we would have payed a lot more. I don’t know maybe it was just a one time thing but I felt as if we got scammed. Definitely just go for the cats. A 40$ I could’ve spent else where.

We are very sad to read your opinion, in general our homemade cheesecake is very popular...
The lemonade is made of cane sugar and lemon juice. Can you give us the details of your visit so that we can follow up with the team in place that day to see what has been done wrong on our board. Good day,

This is a really fun place for super fresh food that’s delicious. I just wanted a salad for dinner and so glad I came across this place. The cats are the draw here (8 in total); all friendly, all from local rescues. There’s a profile of each of them on the tables so you can get an idea of who you’re looking at as they walk by your table or lounge in one of their many spots. The food is super good and very fresh. Salad was great and lemonade was made from actual lemons. Friendly, attentive staff. One of the cats likes to ride the remote controlled skateboard which served as additional dining entertainment. I’m not even that much of a cat person but I loved the place.

The atmosphere is truly "chaleureux" (warm, friendly". The feline staff is purrrrfect, the food is simple but very tasty. You don't go there for a quick bite or a great restaurant, you go there for the entire experience. I highly recommend =)

A nice café on the idea but disappointing. We waited in line before entering. As soon as we sit down at the table, they jump out at us disappointedly to ask us what we want. I think the interest is greater in the number of people who pass by and consume. The sanitary facilities were also very poor. After the cats are not visible or available, they are animals and they are right to live their lives but I am rather disappointed with my visit.

Forget the cats and go just for the food - it was delicious. A short wait to get in but staff are quick to clean and seat people as soon as they can. The cats were sweet and definitely respected and not chased or subjected to attention they don't want, plus lots of places for them to go for privacy with climbing up to the ceiling.

I enjoyed my meal (a delicious grilled cheese sandwich) while watching the adorable cats go about their day. A staff member showed how some of the cats are trained to do tricks: ride a skateboard, spin around, and high five. If you’re looking for a unique place to have a meal, I recommend stopping in this café.

A bunch of friends decided to go there on a Saturday afternoon to grab a coffee/bite and plays some games we brought, while seeing/petting cats.
The good: We counted at least 8 cats there. A good healthy menu with vegans plates also available. Clean place. Warm place (which is important as we have to remove our boots/shoes before we come in). Our waitress was friendly. Cats roam around the tables, when not sleeping. We waited for a few minutes before we got a table but really not long.
The bad: Bathroom small. Waiting room is also small. Waiting room also smell. Waiting room has boots lying everywhere which makes it very difficult to walk around, and it is cold. Food is pricey. Coffees are small. Some waitresses did not feel as friendly. The cats are just that, and they ignore you, or sleep. If the place is more quiet, then they will be more active.
It is a cute little cafe where you can go and live an experience. Food is great but pricey. But they really need to upgrade the waiting room.

Thank you for sharing your experience, To help us to be better,, please give us more informations: The bathrooms: we have 4 toilets, for a small coffee, it's 4 times more than what is normally done. What number would be acceptable to you?
For the entry ... it is an entry so indeed it is not a place of life but of passage which just during the 3 months of winter allows our visitors to take off their shoes. Indeed when people does not store its shoes well, it disturbs other people like you, we will make more discipline in the future :)
Which dishes do you order so that you find it expensive? our meals are between 11 and 14 $ which is the same price as all the small cafes restaurants in the neighborhood (which do not have to take care of 12 cats ... about $ 25,000 per year)
You came during the end of the year holidays so it is indeed the busiest time of the year, like all restaurants, if you want more tranquility, come during the year during the week, you will have the place just for you.
We await your details and other comments at info@cafechatlheureux.com
Thanks!

Overall a very nice place for lunch. The food didn’t take too long to come (especially with mine being part of an order of 4) and was pretty good. The cats were all very friendly, even with the younger kids we brought with us. Would recommend.

If you love cats, this is the place to go. The charming resident cats are sweetest as. And the food is really delicious. We had sandwiches with salad, and tea. There were amazing desserts too. The staff are delightful and seemed happy to be working there. It was so enjoyable to have a leisurely meal with the darling kitties around, some sleeping and some frolicking. A special experience. Don’t miss it if you have the time!

I already went there during the fall and I came back with pleasure! Although this time the restaurant was crowded, so I advise you to aim for quieter times to choose your seat and for the cats to be a little less frightened by all the children.
Adorable waitresses, I still love snacking there! The tea is almost unsweetened, which is nice, the real taste of good iced tea!
This time I had a brownie but their sandwiches are just as excellent. Obviously, it is a pleasure to caress the cats present, a tender moment.

Definitely for cat lovers. But cats were not friendly at least when we were there. One of the cats came to our table and when we petted, one of us was scratched. Glad they had vegan options though the portions were very small.

I love cats and the cats here were funny and cute, all the food was stellar, and so was the hot chocolate, and my whole family loved it, perfection.
