A group of friends spent a wonderful evening at this unique Quebecois restaurant in the village east of St Denis’Latin Quarter.
Looking for a BYOB we hit upon O Thym.
This small restaurant has menus listing all their unusual combinations of ingredients written on chalk boards on the wall together with alcohol free drinks and divided into vegetarian and non vegetarian selections
Choosing from the unfamiliar dishes was helped by our charming bilingual waiter and everything ordered was a success even though choosing was hard. When it came to dessert we gave up and ordered two servings of the four offerings.
The bill was very reasonable.
We are destined to return soon.

The restaurant has an interesting concept of small dishes (to allow you to try different dishes) and bring your own wine (which everyone took full advantage of). I had the Dominic's Lamb, Duck Goulu & Crème brûlée 100% maple syrup. All of them were good. I also loved the idea that in the menu, they acknowledged all the staff from the kitchen to the floor.

We found this restaurant exceptional - among the best and most creative we've ever had. I had the deboned duck legs tenderized in confit and they were exceptional. My wife loved the filet of lamb and a seemingly simple side of petit peas in a tartlet was extraordinary, containing a plum reduction that was formed into roe-looking balls and edible flower petals gracing the preparation. We wish we could have tried more menu entries, maybe on another visit! The dishes all look beautiful when presented and the service is extremely friendly at this high end spot (not often the case)!

The food was good and the service was excellent. However, given the price and the portions I was now overly blown away by the experience. Some dishes were superb like the Arctic Char carpaccio and the homemade shortbread for dessert, but others were given fancy names like "Charcoaled Cruciferous" which ended up being two pieces of cauliflower and two pieces of broccoli for nearly the same price as the fish.
Overall a fun experience and our server was very attentive and helpful, but sadly not worth the price of admission in a city full of truly outstanding restaurants.

"The presentation is beautiful and the service is good. However, the main attraction is the food. For a long time, O'Thym was my favorite restaurant in Montreal, but the quality had declined and I hadn't been back for a while. ten years. Since then the concept has changed to a sharing style of tapas. The waiter informed us that they had reduced the portions and the dishes were now for sharing. My reaction was that reduced portions, in addition to being shared, leave little to be desired, especially since prices have increased considerably!
Indeed, there were three of us and here is what we ordered:
• Pan-fried scallops: three scallops accompanied by a few strands of fried parsnips. They were okay, but nothing special and no particular explosion of flavors for $28!
• Gaetan's Venison with Jerusalem artichokes, kohlrabi and black garlic. There were a lot more vegetables than pieces of shredded venison in the dish for $29.
• Squash ricotta gnudis: three small ravioli without dough that melt in your mouth, but were tasteless for $18.
• Simon's King Oyster Mushrooms, with spicy cornmeal and lemongrass oil. Finally, the only delicate and tasty dish of the evening for my taste.
We definitely weren't full, but decided to move straight to desserts as the place was quite loud. I chose the maple crème brûlée, a classic, which was good. The other desserts were ordinary.
Stars awarded are for service and presentation."

Sad experience. We know the restaurant and really liked it, however our last visit left us extremely disappointed. The portions are very small and but the waiter warned us saying, one selection will not be enough, you should make 2 or even 3. The presentation was ok but the flavors were not there. Group of 8 and we all had the same impression. By the way, you have to pay for the bread. $3 for a third of a baguette, unheard of.

During our five days in Montreal, this restaurant was hands down the best meal we had. The food, made with local produce, was absolutely sensational. After every course it just got better and better, and we found ourselves wanting more even after we were full.
If you don’t love the food here, you might want to get your taste buds checked!
Highly recommended!

First of all, a very good level of service.
The dishes are good but lack flavor and taste.
I had some scraps, very well cooked but no flavor.
Point to improve:
- cooking fish, overcooked
- a fairly thin slice of duck breast
- the contents of the plates are a little rudimentary.
I suggest you bring a Spanish rosé or Côtes du Rhone as wine. wine quite fleshy if a person takes meat and complements well if you eat fish

Went for dinner here 2 weeks ago with my wife. It is a BYO, so we brought a half bottle of white and a full bottle of red with us to enjoy with our meal. We picked 4 dishes and some bread. 1st 2 dishes were, Pétoncles crus de Tadoussac and Tartelette à l'oignon confit both very tasty. Next we had Chanterelles de l'Outaouais and Duck 2 ways.
Everything was fresh and tasted great, we will defiantly be back.

I ended up here by accident but boy I am glad I did. We got a table by the window by staff members who were very firendly and made us feel at home right away. The majority of the ingredients come from Quebec. We had Fiddleheads (a green veg that I have never seen outside Canada) and argousier icecream with Quebec made rum. What a delight. I wish we had such a restaurant in my hometown. Superb

Fresh Canadian ingredients and a very inspired chef led to such a memorable experience for us. The choice of ingredients, spices, etc made each of the 5 dishes we tried amazing. The perch from Gaspésie and scallops from Ile de la Madeleines were scrumptious
I never realized they were there for 19 years but now I know why !! A total discovery .. we will be back

Small portions of decent dishes, nothing more, sometimes bad, including charred scallops. Big price. Since this restaurant changed its tapas formula, the quality has not changed in any way, on the contrary, but the prices have! Too expensive. Like the food, the service was OK, nothing more.

Everything was excellent. From service to the food to the vibe. The menu is unique and I didn’t know everything I ordered, but everything we ordered was truly amazing. The mix of flavors and the creativity made it a memorable meal. The small plates worked well. If they have the tuna, which was a special, order it! And save room for dessert! The cake was especially good.

This is probably our 8th visit. O’Thyme is one of our must-go whenever we visit Montreal. This dinner service did not disappoint. We have been sharing plates in our past visits so the current small plate setting just simplifies things for us! Thanks for being consistent all these years. See you in 2024!

Absolutely delicious food featuring fresh and natural ingredients. The desserts were especially good, the buckwheat strawberry cake was something completely new and extremely tasty. Very friendly and helpful service, they even called a taxi to take us home. BYOB, no corkage fee.
