I remember being there almost six years ago. Loved it, but i live in the east end of Mtl and hate having to search for a parking spot down town.... We've been to Etoile des Indes this past week, my husband and I, plus both our moms ( the moms are pickier than we both are with food) : we... More

In the middle of all the cheap student fast foods around Concordia and the all you can eat sushis, you will find this well hidden Indian gem. It is the best butter chicken on a budget. cheap house wine and fantastic combos to share including the appetizers and desserts. Highly recommend!

I had lamb tikala masala - tasty with freshly baked nan dough. Another of us had the chicken tikala masala - great! Another had the shrimp curry - very nice. The manager kind of graciously offered (we thought) complementary nan and rice, but I guess we misunderstood, because it was on the bill.

A lot of my friends love this place but I find the food just OK. I have tasted Indian food all over Montreal and this place is middle of the pack to me. However, I will recommend the weekday lunch special as an extremely good value!

It says star of India. The place is run by a bangladeshis and the only thing Indian about this place is India in the restaurant's name. The food was terrible. I am from India and have had Indian food in Montreal but this place sucks to the core. We ordered stuffed parathas n garlic naan. they were horrendous. The only... More

Étoile des Indes has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Montreal for over 15 years. When I go out for Indian cuisine I don’t require innovative recipes, just classic dishes done well, and I’ve never been disappointed here, no matter what I order. What really separates Étoile des Indes from our other Indian restaurants is the spicy end of its... More

Love this restaurant, my go-to place when I need my Indian Food Fix. Butter Chicken, Madras, Lamb Korma, Fluffy delicious Naan. Prices are reasonable, service has always been impeccable. Lunch specials are great value.

Thank Mic T

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
