My preferred place for Montreal-style bagels, which come HOT right of the oven. Barely room for 3 people to stand at the counter, and no place to eat inside, but this is definitely worth a detour. Go there!

We always stop here to stock up on Montreal bagels which are second to none. Loaded with toppings, and much tastier than any American bagel, these are well worth the trip if you don't mind the aroma of sesame or everything accompanying you back to the US! Well priced. Note: they do NOT make sandwiches on site anymore (Nov 2016).

We are in Montreal often enough as our son leaves here. Every time we take a few dozens of bagels back to Toronto. They freeze well, to Stef, cream cheese or salmon, you get the original flavor back. Fairmount is new to us since we always go to st Viateur. We had some this morning! Wow, Fab!!! You may have... More

Allegedly the best Bagel bakery in town, this small shop serves bagels and pretzels and pastry alike at every hour, so that sometimes you might find long queues in the night. I cannot say I tried so many bagels, in MTL, to be able to agree with the commonly accepted view; still, the products I had were very tasty and... More

I walked over to Fairmount Bagel from the University of Montreal on a Saturday morning. Passed by peaceful neighborhoods, through a well used park, and into a great little community with men walking to temple. The bagels were warm and chewy and tasted of honey and sesame seeds. There is no selection, this is no chain store. There is no... More

I was SO excited for Fairmount bagel. I made my poor husband stand in line with me for 45+ minutes, promising him greatness. I had heard nothing but great reviews, surely we were in for a little taste of heaven, right? Ehhhhh, I didn't think so. Fairmount Bagel has become a "must" for those in Montreal. This is reflected in... More

Fresh bagels made daily and open 24 hours a day! Although there can be long lines, it's worth it and they move pretty quick. When you walk in your surrounded by stacks upon stacks of bagels! They are cash only though which may be a bit of a hinderance.

Fresh from the oven Bagels. You have to try it and you will not regret it. Affordable and tasteful. Its just next to Kem Coba Ice-cream.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
