Great ambience in Old Montreal. The restaurant is in sunken main floor, with a variety of seating options at quaint tables for two, or high tables to share with other diners. The food was very good. The menu is fairly simple, but hits all the right spots. Many sake options. Mine was poured into a glass that was placed in... More

I went there with my friend for lunch. We both ordered the Chirashi salad. Let me tell you it was certainly not worth the price. They gave 6 pieces of fish and the presentation was mediocre. The price was way too expensive for what it really was. Truly disappointed...

The food was good, but sushi menu is limited. They had a Montréal food special with a 3 course meal for 23$, it only lasts till February. You cannot go there and not have the donut desert, the highlight of the evening. Why I give them a 4 star is because by the time we got there, around 7:30pm, they... More

This restaurant is located on the street level of the Place D'Armes Hotel, in Old Montreal. We were staying at the hotel and came here on a very busy night, with no reservations, and they were able to sit us at the bar. We had a great meal. The sushi was delicious and fresh, and plated in a beautiful, artistic... More

Great hot and cold options. Classic choices like miso soup and gyoza are well prepared. Nice menu of nigiri, sashimi and maki. Also enjoyed unagi sashimi and some amazing black cod...it's worth the splurge!

I am truly baffled by the 4-5* reviews on this restaurant. I visited expecting a decent restaurant on the basis of these reviews. What I got was terrible service (it wasn't even busy but could I get anyone to serve me? No), chipped plates (not great anyway but particularly not for a food blogger), incorrect orders, dodgy tasting tuna, and... More

Wonderful Japanese food, with a few quirky and different things on the menu too, friendly service and helpful as needed a special sushi dish made for a slightly fussy child ! We also felt it was good value for money, the wasabi prawns were huge and we all really enjoyed our meals

Loved KYO. We stopped in on an impromptu walk around Place d'Armes and stayed for a couple of hours. Great sushi, excellent service and awesome music. Totally recommend it!

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
