Modest, traditional & intimate restaurant serving traditional north-western French dishes. I recommend the cod cakes.

The food in this used-to-be cosy restaurant is as good as ever but there is now a keyboard player belting out tunes as loud as his speakers can manage in the corner of a tiny dining room. Escape is impossible, as is civilised conversation. We politely asked that the sound be turned down a notch to be told, by the... More

This cozy restaurant serves a wide range of authentic French bistro dishes. Our assigned server seemed distracted, taking 15 minutes to bring a wine menu 3 steps. Fortunately, she was replaced by an energetic waitress who was friendly and efficient. I chose the asparagus and brie quiche which I found to be delicious albeit a little drowned in a tasty,... The owners Pascale and Lionel are truly nice persons. The martinis, delicious, needless to say the food is excellent. The price quite affordable and its near metro station. Better to make reservations on week-end. During summer they have a small terrace with flowers. The clientele mostly adults and a friendly ambiance. You will want to go back again.

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
