We walked about an hour to get here and it was well worth it. Purchased a variety of items. The cookies were light and delicious. The chocolate bobka was a real treat. Chocolate heaven. The cheese one was more like an American cheese Danish.Good too but the chocolate was amazing. We purchased a loaf of wheat bread which was quite... More

I purchased a few pastries from this bakery for a Holiday party. I'm very disappointed with the cleanliness of this bakery. I found dirt and a finger nail in my pastry.

The pastries are divine. Staff are pleasant and efficient. The shop is very clean and it is always busy. A wide variety of breads, cookies and pastry. Everything we have tried so far has been really tasty and fresh. We have tried the cookies, cheese crowns, white bread and different rolls and have never been disappointed. Just wish they would... Oh how I love Cheskies! My family and I have been going for as far back as I can remember. This Hassidic bakery has to be one of the best in Montreal. Their pastries are always fresh and delicious. I particularly like the tiny chocolate croissant shaped pastries! If you go early on Friday morning, you will encounter many Jewish... More

This little authentic Jewish bakery in the historic Outremont / Mile End neighbourhood has some of the best treats in town. My personal favourite is the chocolate babka! Absolutely must-have! If you're visiting the trendy Mile-End, walk over to this gem and treat yourself because you will not regret it!!

We recently discovered Cheskie's and we are SOOOO glad we did. The products are fresh, well-presented and baked to perfection. Their chocolate bread is world-class. It uses dark chocolate, it is not too sweet, and it has a very appetizing texture. Our next favorite product is the challa bread. The only issue is that is only available only Thursday and... More

I read all of the positive TripAdvisor, and we went out of our way to get desserts for the weekend. We were not disappointed in the least. We bought way, way more than our group could eat, but it was really, really worth it.

You should go here for the show. The local Hassidic community loves it and so they should. As for me, it sucks me in once in a while, but whatever I pretend is going to be Viennese turns out to be so sweet that I regret it.But the people are lovely and It must be an acquired taste, My prejudice,... Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
