This restaurant has two entrances - one for self service with only a counter to order from, and one for full service with a server. I opted for self service. My pizza was good and the staff were friendly.

We came here for dinner. We have been coming here for several years off and on and we have noticed changes in the menu. Before there were a lot of choices, but now those choices have dramatically dropped to a single two-sided menu. They do, however, still have all the regulars you would expect from this iconic Italian restaurant in... More

I visited for dinner and had minestrone soup and a 9 inch pizza. What impressed me was the initial attentiveness of the staff, who immediately identified that I wasn't French-speaking and A waiter took over who was bilingual. Food portions were adequate and everything tasted fresh and very nice. My one criticism was that, even though a satisfaction check was... More

This is like a visit to an old school diner, except with Italian food instead of club sandwiches. And make no mistake, this is Italian food as Montrealers discovered it in the 50's. Pizza, Lasagna, Canellonis, and Spaghetti Bolognes. No more, No less. Good prices, reliable food, but not very creative.

Not a big deal, nevertheless disappointing. Ordered a pizza and a beer. Got out happy with the food and drink. The only thing I missed it was the glass if water when I arrived (I was not thirsty, but would have loved drinking a glass of water).

My favourite plate here is what they call the "Italian Festin" . It's spaghetti served with one sausage , one meatball and one garlic bread for $14.95 (drink extra) . Very filling ! I'm a regular at this restaurant when I'm in the area but I usually go on the take out side (which also has limited seating) . It's... More

My children and I come to Montreal several times a year (for swim meets and camps). When we come for swim meets, we always stay in Centerville and Restaurant Da Giovanni is our food line after 9:30pm. What we like about the restaurant are (a) consistency of its pasta dishes and (b) fast and friendly service when the kids are... More

Been going to Da Giovani from more than 20 years ... Meat sauce turning into water sauce ... WHERE'S THE MEAT? Our last counter orders have not been the same since the last year. Come in guys, don't let your reputation die... You used to be an icon!

I went there a couple times for dinner and it is a good option for pizza or pasta. The price is reasonable and the staff is nice. There is a funny combination of spaghetti and pizza in the same dish...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
