I was only in Montreal for 4 night but I loved the Brasserie 701 so much that I came back a second time and was so pleased that they offered organic wine. Tres bien! This diningroom has beautiful ambiance.

Small breakfast menu, mostly eggs benedict variations. Ordered the buffet instead which had minimal options (aside from a killer chocolate croissant which I was lucky to grab the last) and it was cleared/closed 15 minutes later. Waited over half an hour for a cappuccino to...go and a check.More

We had an excellent family dinner with two teenagers. The food was outstanding! We ordered beef tartare and escargots for our appetizers and mushroom ravioli and a lovey steak frites (perfectly cooked) for mains. The staff was very attentive and friendly and made it a...truly special evening. For such a busy and popular place on a Saturday, the noise was low, probably due to the high ceilings. We will definitely be back to this fantastic spot in old Montreal.More

I was seduced by the food, the staff, and the impossibly grand high ceilings in this friendly but beautiful corner brasserie just across from Montreal's awe-inspiring Notre-Dame Basilica. On a brief staycation @ the Hotel Place d'Armes while my home is being renovated, I was...happily surprised to find impeccable and charming service and a mouth-watering menu when I stumbled into B701, just off the hotel lobby, looking for a late lunch. The maitre d'hotel Meghan treated me like royalty when she immediately sat me by the window and had me laughing and opening up to her charms within a few seconds. Marwan immediately presented with the main verte, a refreshingly unsweet cocktail, seemingly concocted for hypnotic gazing through the expansive windows at the season's first snowfall. Meghan recommended the crisp and tangy house salad which I paired wth the grilled eggplant. Just a real joy to feel super comfortable lingering a bit longer than I expected to with Meghan and Marwan, who despite being seasoned professionals, knew how to distract this diner from a hectc work schedule with their conversation. You wouldn't know that the staff was ending their shift and prepping for dinner service, because they made me feel at home the entire time. I highly recommend!More

This is a stunning restaurant, I did the MTL table experience. The Beet Carpaccio and Shrimp were lovely, the main course of pork tenderloin was dreadful. It was gristly and difficult to cut. I was served a bottle of wine that was very very off....I was challenged when I tried to send it back and the manager then tried it and immediately went to spit it out. It was replaced with a different wine. When I indicated that my pork tenderloin was not to my liking he shrugged and did nothing. There was sadly no offer of any amends for my horrible wine experience. There were several different people serving us dinner and there was little or no relationship with the servers. We felt like an afterthought. I was really excited to eat here but felt like they really didn't care about our experience.More

I enjoyed the food here. I did the MTL Table experience. The lights were dim and the writing on the menu was in light colour so it was a little hard to read. As I couldn't read the menu I asked Hugo the bartender (I...am going to call him mixologist) to make me a drink. He asked one from the menu or one I create. I said one you create. Everytime I go out I ask the bartenders the same thing and they always make me a usually. Hugo did not. I had 2 drinks that I have never had and they were fantastic. I wanna go back just to try different drinks. When I was ordering my food Hugo consulted with Gavin who is a waiter and a maitre'd. Keep in mind he was not my waiter as I was seated at the bar. He gave a great description of and the iteam I was inquirying about. When I got that item Gavin came by and asked me how everything was going which I thought was amazing because he wasn't my waiter. When I was leaving I said goodbye to Gavin and he said asked me did I get my dessert (As the menu I got came with dessert) I said Oh My I completely forgot. He said Go sit down stay with us longer and get your desser. Gavin had just spoken to me inquirying how my meal was so he knew I was leaving early. I thought that this was fantastic. I went in there solo and left feeling like I wasn't because of the amazing service. I will go back in a heartbeat. I highly recommend.More

The restaurant, which is part of a hotel, is located in an old building with beautiful high ceilings. The atmosphere was very nice. The menu was good. Selected beef tartare for the starter, followed by ravioli with mushrooms for the main. The wine selection was...good even by the glass which was a nice touch. The problem centered around the staff. There were multiple servers throughout the night, which simply made one feel forgotten. It is quite painful to get the check, even thought it was requested to several people. The disappointment with the service detracted from the overall experience. Probably would not return as there are many restaurants to choose from. While the food was good, the evening was not memorableMore

We were looking forward to dining here on a Thursday night, but were very disappointed. We made a reservation online for after 7 then got a call about 3 pm that day to ask if we were really coming. Said yes. Got there and ordered...wine, appetizers and entrees. It all came at once!! We had just received our appetizer and they moved it out of the way and set down our entrees. I complained to the server and she gave some excuse that there was a 3 course special on and the kitchen was working fast. Never really understood why. Then got the bill. Again I said to the server, “ that was a fast dinner. I have spent longer at McDonalds!” She replied that she was sorry, but provided no correction or fix. Food was okay but we spent $170.00 for a diner that lasted 30 minutes. I want to support small restaurants, but this was very poor.More

This was my favorite meal of my whole trip! We had just gotten in at the airport and dropped our stuff at the hotel and we’re HUNGRY. We were greeted by a sophisticated atmosphere the second we walked in. Everything we had was absolutely delicious...and I was begging to go back the rest of the trip.
