Expectations were low, based on the mixed TripAdvisor reviews of this restaurant, so my wife and I were pleasantly surprised to discover an excellent tasting menu that surpassed some we’ve experienced even at Michelin-starred restaurants. We went for the 10-course “Winter Vision” menu with wine pairings, reasonably priced at $120 and $85, respectively (also available is a 5-course menu that... More

Would not recommend. Service was terrible, we had to wait 30 minutes to get our table even if we had a reservation. Food was bad and really overpriced. There's is plenty of better alternatives around at this price range. That was probably my last visit.

We went to Laurie Raphael for my birthday. Both my husband and I had 10 course tasting menu. Food was excellent, dishes were very imaginative, and the service prompt and courteous not ostentatious at all as in many fancy restaurants.

I think we may have made a mistake in not having the tasting menu and instead we ordered a-la-carte. As a result the service was not very good as we needed to flag down our waiter for everything including the wine list, the wine, water, bread, butter, and finally the bill, whereas the tables that ordered the tasting menu received... We visited this restaurant during the busy Christmas party lunches period, for our own party and I could not be more pleased. I chose to go with the 'blind' menu (reasonably priced for what it had to offer). I am lucky, as I really do not have any dislikes, so I really enjoyed every single part of it. We were... More

"Table Montreal" Was occurring when we stopped in to this Restaurant. We dined here as it was the restaurant in the hotel that we were staying. There was a set menu with three choices for a starter. Three for main and two for dessert. There was an up charge of $20 for the third choice in each category. The price... More

What a treat. Three course menu at the bar that was so good. Great presentation, prepared with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. The dessert was a white chocolate mousse with raspberry. This chef is also in Quebec City. Outstanding!

My husband and I ate here on the first night of our stay at Hotel Le Germain. We arrived at the hotel after a 7 hour train journey from Saratoga Springs and soon headed down to dinner. As soon as I walked in I felt uncomfortable. Due to the type of trip we were doing I had taken only one... More

Very good food. We had the tasting menu 5 courses and enjoyed every one. The wines were excellent and the sommelier did a good job.

Chose Laurie Raphael in Montreal for a birthday celebration dinner and enjoyed the experience overall. The cuisine is as special as advertised, with exceptionally, beautifully presented plates. We dined early so the venue was fairly empty when we arrived. A calm and spare decor greets you, mood lighting and all, with some electronic (though not disturbing) music in the background.... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
