Small "around the corner" restaurant, a touch of originality with tables owner you have to sit on the ground ....just like in Japan. Food is good and good sized portions, not sure about the cleanliness of the kitchen though. That's why I only gave them the "average" grade, because if you bring the clients near the kitchen, it has to... More

We happened across Tampopo, and are so glad we did! Look for the big Buddha painted on the side of the building. I thought it might be a Buddhist center, so we headed over to check it out...but instead found delicious food to fill our hungry bellies! Relaxed, calm atmosphere. We opted to sit on the raised floor with table.... More

It is a cute small place, with its Asian charm and very good food! Three tables for four (sitting on the cushions on the floor a bit like in Japan), and several chairs around the "bar"- kitchen where you can watch all those delicious meals being prepared. Very good price-quality: I paid CAD18 for a starter and main, generous portions!!!... More

Tried this place one evening and kept coming back again for more. I loved everything about this place, starting from the setting, ambiance, nice service and most importantly exquisite food. A must try!

Tampopo used to be a good place but now is really disappointing. The pad thai is extremely blend and barely has any taste and same goes for the soup. Would not recommend.

It is definitely a cozy place for a rainy day. The food is very good, and the portions are generous. It is worth it!

The food is very tasteful. I would recommend the vegetarian dumplings & the Pho soups. This is a good place to order from for asian food in the Plateau. It takes about 1 hour to get to your place, which is not bad.

I arrived at Tampopo and I was 2nd in the line up. There are not a lot of seats, the tables were full and I was left with the option of sitting at the bar. One of the staff was nice enough to ask people at the bar if they were ok to move a little so I could have... More

Good asian restaurant. We go at least once a year. You sit on the floor or at the bar. Service is good and fast. The manager is very nice. The food is good, not five stars but good enough for a nice night out with the kids. My kids love this restaurant.

I prefer ordering in from this place as the food is good but the seating and decor are just too bad to even be kitsch !

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
